That's all we keep hearing is that "We don't deserve to be here" and that the Colts laid down to let us in (of course ignoring the fact that we still needed to win the game and 7 of 8 to be in this spot). I heard that the Colts and Manning are going to show that they would have beaten the Jets had they left the starters in. Maybe they would have that day but doesn't matter because they didn't. Their fans are saying we didn't earn our way into the playoffs and the pundits are saying San Diego choked. The bottom line is this works both ways.

You don't think for one second that Rex is going to have the boys fired up with the tune of these guys think the only reason we beat them is because they pulled their starters? Or that the team is going to want to prove that they can beat Indy with their starters. The fact that people are going to say all week that the only reason we are playing for an AFC Title is because these guys lets us beat them. These guys believe in Rex and they believe in themselves and for the first time in a long time the fans believe in this team and their coach. Motivation is a huge factor but don't doubt that the Jets aren't going to bring it on Sunday. Bart Scott said Charger players came up to him before the game and said we didn't deserve to be here which only fired up this team more.

People are failing to give Rex credit, the guy is a very smart. People ignore the fact that the Jets didn't really play Jets football in the first few quarters. Not saying they didn't play to win but somewhere in his mind Rex knew if they got into the playoffs it was a very real possibility we would have to beat these guys on our way to a SB and didn't show the Colts his hand. We knew they were going to pull their starters and all we needed to do was keep it close until they did and then it was our game. It was the same yesterday, people in the bar got worried when we kept going 3 and out but the Chargers showed their hand very early and we like a good defensive boxer just let the other team do what they wanted in the 1st part of the game but then our defense took over and our offense did their thing from the mid 2nd quarter on.

The Colts may say all the right things this week but they know they are the superior team and they know they should beat us and it will take a great game by us and a poor one by them for us to get to Miami. They're already thinking about Miami and the Super Bowl and that's exactly what we want.

    good post, Rich.

I hate not having the respect....but to be quite honest....I wouldn't have it any other way right now....because the Jets are using this as fuel....and I hope they "back their way into the Super Bowl" as a result of it

Let the masses talk us into the gutter.....I could care less. San Diego got a taste of reality yesterday...and Indy will get theirs next week.

good post. let them all talk.. i don't care. when our D makes these supposed hot, tall, talented teams ineffective, all those "we don't belong" people look stupid. this team is playing like they belong, and thats all i care about.

While I agree with most of your post Rich..its SOME in the media that feel that way.

Most of my friends are Giant fans (who have spent a better part of 3 decades and more giving it to me). I havent met one who doesnt believe in THIS Jet team. None.

Surprisingly, which reminds me of the year the Pats lost to the Giants, many of them are rooting pretty hard for the Jets. That may explain why they believe.

There is so much media these days...so you will get some that do not believe...but fans seem to get this run a lot better.

To add, here is a little clip from a reporter of the Colts:

"A week ago, I looked at the Colts' three possible division opponents ... and suggested the Jets would be a soft touch, a 31-3 loser, a one-dimensional team with no hope of winning here," columnist Bob Kravitz wrote in the Indianapolis Star. "Then I watched what they did Sunday in San Diego. ...

"The Colts created this monster, and along the way, they've gotten some help from two horrendous field goal kickers and a San Diego coach, Norv Turner, who butchered the last two minutes of Sunday's game. Charity began at home, right here in Indianapolis. It ends here, too."

We all know he has had his share of troubles with really good defenses in the playoffs. Don't give me the Bears SB either because we are much better then that team on the offensive side of the ball. If the Jets get physical with their WRs early and take control it could be a long day because I don't see Donald Brown and Addai having the same success they had in game 1.

You only get respect one way... by beating the best. We got one more "best" team to beat again next week. When you are the 5th, 6th seed in the playoffs and you had a lot of help you aren't going to get "respect", you have to go earn it. It's clear the Jets don't have a problem with that.

And I ask you, what is more fun... being an after thought to making the Super Bowl and proving the world wrong, or being the expectation to make and defeating everyone? I prefer the former. I love the underdog role. I love it when it's us against the world. No pressure, no expectations. Just the game. And having some fun. :)

i literally love being the underdog. Rex also has this team playing the same way.

Rex said it best in his postgame press

"now were going to Indy, probably a matchup nobody wanted to see, but too bad were comin"

people can kick all the dirt they want on the fact were in the AFCCG. furthermore, trailing 15-10 into the 3rd against their starters should diffuse the blowout talk already.

then again thatll take away the mental edge we have of actually knowing we can kick any team in the fucking teeth. as people have been finding out recently.

cept theres alot of friends of mine whove become Jets fans simply because theyre students of the game and appreciate the bravado and product our team presents on the field. a hard hitting, smash mouth team people spend time talking about a list of reasons we shouldnt succeed while we continue to soundly convince better observers otherwise

Even better, I've been hearing here in Southern California that we don't belong in the AFCC game. That the Chargers should have beaten us by at LEAST 2 TDs if they hadn't rolled over. That Kaeding is our best asset. What I haven't heard are explanations for why the Chargers managed to fall into those mental traps after the TT this week. Why their passing game fell apart. Why the Jets struggled in the first half, only to turn it on in the second. It's all about other teams letting us win. Every single week. Well, if that's how they want it, fine. Let the powers that be roll over one more time and send us to Miami. I don't care how everyone SAYS we got there. I care that my team is still alive and going strong.

I really believed after that game the Colts were ready to put us away..let them think that because after that last 3 weeks..not sure.

    Down 7-0 Bengals

Down 7-0 Chargers. Nuff said. Nobody can make a case for that anymore.

Good call out Jetzz! I'm loving the lack of respect we're getting from the talking heads but yanno what? I'm surprised by the respect we're getting from more than a few unexpected places starting with Michael Irvin last night, Collin Cowherd today on his show to name a few...

you nailed something too about the mental lapses opposing offenses seem to get into against us in the 2nd half.

Rivers, just like Palmer, made a bunch of throws that are uncharacteristic of them.

I think teams know to say the right thing but quietly think our number 1 defense is just numbers on a sheet. then they meet the real product and realize theyre in for a tough fight

Just heard Dan Dierdorf speak, on Sporting News.

When Dierdorf was asked about Rex Ryan, he said, "I love the guy. I would have loved to have played for Rex Ryan. I love that he tells it like it is & does not worry about political correctness."

Dierdorf on Mark Sanchez: "There is no question in my mind, that Sanchez is going to be great in the NFL. He is going to be a stud. People talk about he only had 13 starts in college.....Sanchez has a tremendous arm, he is going to be a star in the NFL, he is a game manager."

Dierdorf on Jets/Colts: "I know that the Colts are favored, but there is something magical about the Jets. Wouldn't it be ironic if the Jets won it all!?"

No, Dan. It will be SWEEEET when the Jets win it all!

I think it was part of the plan, I knew when they hadn't blown us away in the first 10 minutes that we were going to win and they would fall apart. We let them show us what they had and we knew we had them in that second half. They panicked because they just assumed they were better then us and they found out they weren't. Considering Jim Leonhard slipped on their 1st TD pass of Rivers gets sent into next week and we played prevent on their second we are the team saying we should have won by 2 TDs.
