I agree with what you're saying and I have alot of confidence in Sanchez ... As long as we're not put in a position where we're forced to play catch-up and pass every down. That woud be tough for any QB to overcome. I think we'll keep the game close and use our running to set up play action passing ... and I expect Sanchez' stat line to look very good at the end. I also expect Braylon to catch 2 TD's as we come away with a 27-24 win!
sanchez has played real good in warm weather for the most part, both miami games and that jacksonvile game he was playing real good...im really not worried about sanchez

If the Jets are in the position where they have to depend on Sanchez to win the game for them, they are in trouble, big trouble. Not because he can not do it, it is possible and he has the talent. It is because it means their gameplan isn't working and the Jets formula for success had to be thrown out the window. Like it or not Sanchez is still just a rookie. Despite his talent and his leadership qualities, he just isn't ready to be put in such a position. It will most likely help him in the future. Just the same as the Jets winning the LOS and running the ball successfully down San Diego's throat and requiring Sanchez to simply not make a big mistake will help him too. To summarize, no way in hell do I want Sanchez to be in position where the Jets need him to win.
The key to this game is obviously or smash mouth offense but in reality... We have to loosen them up on 1st downs early! On our 1st possession, if they go 8/9 in the Box...you have to just eat that up because we can't have 3&outs early in the game.
Excellent point. If the Jets game plan is not working there is no way they go into San Diego and beat the Chargers.
Mark Sanchez's two best games of his career (college & NFL) have been the highest pressure games. In college, the Rose Bowl was his best game of the season. This year, the playoff game against the Bengals was arguably his best game. This kid thrives under pressure and the national spotlight!
I've been watching and listening to some Chargers interviews within the past couple of days and heard tidbits from them about "forcing" Sanchez into throwing situations if they can shut down our running game. They're talking about it as if anticipating that "forcing" him to throw is some sort of automatic INT. It's interesting that they're of this mindset. Somebody hasn't been watching the last 5 or 6 Jets games very carefully. Sanchez is almost a different QB than he was in Week 10. He's placing the ball VERY well (on the numbers, in the hands, and in places to the side where the defender cannot possibly get it) or otherwise, he's throwing it away. So, if I'm reading between the lines correctly, they're making a HUGE mistake by gameplanning as one would have game-planned against us in Week 12 or so. Daring Sanchez to pass and "forcing" him to do it may burn their fucking asses up one side and down the other. If Sanchez can make them pay for unduly stacking the box as you might have doone in the past to the point where they're behind 24-10 in the 3rd quarter, they will HAVE TO abandon the box and put more on the WRs, and this is a disaster for them also because then it's fresh-legs Shonn Greene ripping off huge amounts of clock on them. Seriously, do not be surprised to see that it'll be the Chargers' game plan that has to go out the window. And it Rivers is off the field watching Green and Sanchez get 3rd down conversions one after the other while he watches the clock vanish, they'll be in huge, desperate trouble, IMO.
There was a story on CNN this past week about movie goers who had seen Avatar and were all depressed now because the real world isn't like Avatar.
I don't want to be "that guy," but I don't really think you can say he played well against Jax. Sanchez is a young QB in a playoff game; you need to do your best to not put too much on him and "dance with the girl that brought you" by pounding the ball down their throats. If it comes down to the Jets' offense relying on Sanchez I think this plays into San Diego's hands as they will almost certainly be relying on Rivers. The Jets need to pound the ball, keep Rivers' time on the field to a minimum by playing great defense, and dictate the pace of the game. Sanchez airing it out does not coincide with this formula.
when teams stack the box to stop our run game, and then sanchez rolls out and tosses the rock 30yds to a wide open keller, it really takes the wind out of our opponents sails. the way if a team's blitz is beat by a screen play for 30 yds.
Just writing your hopes and dreams down won't make them come true. Sanchez's track record speaks for himself. He may yet become good, few QBs are in their first year...but if you expect him to play a large role in this game for the win, you will be sadly mistaken.
That's the great thing, we don't need too. If we can handle you're Offense our run game can take over.
