http://bleacherreport.com/articles/325862-jets-1-defense-perpertrating-the-fraud I had to post this if you guys havent seen it...... New York Jets' No. 1 Defense Perpertrating the Fraud by Ian Philip Analyst 80 articles written 311 comments written 33 fans View Profile Analyst Written on January 14, 2010 Rackmultipart There are three things I like about the San Diego Chargers vs the New York Jets: 1. The Chargers' offense is better than the Indianapolis Colts', and the Colts' first team was on pace for at least 30 before their backups came in and stifled Peyton Manning off as he was on pace for 350 yards passing against the Jets' "No. 1" passing defense. Look at who the Jets played and when. They stopped the New England Patriots and Houston Texans early in the year. Fantastic, right? The New England Patriots, and we all saw them get clobbered by the Baltimore Ravens last week, hung 31 points on the great Jets defense to take the division from the Jets. Apparently, the Patriots sailed right past Revis Island. The Jets have stopped all time passing greats such as Curtis Painter, Josh Freeman, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Matt Ryan, a Houshmandzadeh & Chris Henry-less Carson Palmer, and Jake "T.O." Delhomme. Is anyone outside of New York impressed? 2. The Chargers' defense in the first half of the last eight games has been dominant, then the defense basically practiced and played prevent in the second half of those games. The Chargers had several HUGE third-quarter leads over their 11-game winning streak. In the last eight games, SD has given up on average 7.5 points in the first half. The Chargers offense scored an average of 15.75 points in the first half. Teams ran up big yardage, but could only muster about 10 points on average in the second half. Eighteen points per game won't get it done against a team that hasn't scored less than 20 points in 22 straight games. For all their tough talk, the Jets will like score six or seven points in the first half against the Chargers. 3. San Diego played seven games against the top 10 defenses in the NFL and still averaged about 26 points per game. One of those games was played mostly by backups. The Jets' No. 1 defense has perpetrated the fraud by playing teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Buffalo Bills; then thumping their chests while Indianapolis' first team and the Patriots ran up a 45 points on them in a game and a half. You must look at when the statistics were accumulated and against whom. Who are the Jets scaring with this fake Baltimore Ravens swagger? Nobody.
He makes some valid points, and as a Charger fan he makes me feel beter about this game. Having said that, this is extremely one sided and he doesn't give the Jets any credit whatsoever. Whatever he says about your schedule and who you played, you still have the best defense in the league. I don't really understand how he can argue with that.
Who cares...although he does have some decent points. The Chargers' offense is legitimate and will challenge the top D in the league.
That site is for fan articles- Any moron can write a article there, and they gain new levels, such as analyst with the more articles written. Pointless, off to the Cesspool
Fails to mention that Sanchez spotted the Patriots at least 10 points with all his INT's. Also fails to mention that the Defense more or less shut down Drew Brees and the Saints back when they were scoring tons of points.
It's Bleacher Report... I might as well post something there and call myself a journalist. Well, color me convinced. Yes, he failed on many levels.
First, our entire team was a fraud and we didn't deserve to make the playoffs. Now that they won a playoff game our defense is now a fraud. I love how this writer talks up the Chargers defense in the 1st half but refuses to talk about facing teams like the Raiders/Chiefs two times each.
Besides having horseshit content, this article is poorly written...This jerkoff actually says, "The Jets are going to 'like' score 6 or 7 points..." Is this a dude or a sorority sister from Real World San Diego???
Here are some stats I put together that are worth considering. Not saying it guarantees anything on Sunday, but perhaps it's a counterpoint to this dingbat: * Winning percentage of teams SD beat: 0.453 * Winning percentage of teams NYJ beat: 0.507 While Jets' stats are inflated by the Indy win, the Oakland/KC tandem was less competitive generally than the BUF/Miami tandem in division * SD's current "11-game-win-streak" includes wins vs. 3 teams that finished above .500 (CIN, DAL, PHI) Last week's playoff results suggest only Dallas was a quality win; yes, you can debate the competitiveness of the Jets' last two opponents (Indy, CIN), but... * SD's 13 wins came against teams with a PF/PA scoring differential of -398 * Jets' 9 wins came against teams with a PF/PA scoring differential of -201 While there can be a chicken vs. egg argument here, SD's 13 wins came vs. generally less competitive teams * Both teams were 3-1 vs. 2009's playoff teams
someone posted here about the SD run defense being top 10 over the last x number of games -- less yards yes - but way less attempts - avg per carry was actually at like 4.9 instead of 4.5. Run D actually got worse but because they played from ahead it wasn't exploited. Just another example of people not really looking at the numbers behind the stats
I love articles like this, everyone in the NFL feels like this ass and Fatcesa. Its us against the world fellas, we don't need know media kissing our asses. Take us the promised land fatman!!!!!!!!!!
Umm...why don't we look at who the Chargers beat...KC TWICE, Raiders TWICE, Browns, the Giants and Broncos when both teams were in the middle of their free falls, Bengals, Redskins, Dolphins, Eagles, Cowboys and Titans. The only impressive teams out of that list are the Cowboys in Dallas, the Eagles, and blowing the wheels off the Titans after they had righted the ship. Otherwise Charger fans have no right to make light of any of the Jets opponents. Not to mention the fact that Jets opponents had a .516 winning percentage and Chargers opponents had a .453 winning percentage. Not that it means to take 13-3 lightly, but to rip on quality of opponents when the Chargers schedule was MUCH softer is idiotic.
