Good articles, thanks for posting this. I can't see Mount Cody falling into the second. There's too many 3-4 teams that need a nose tackle.
I really like Arthur Jones, hopefully he can show the Jets that he's healthy enough to have faith in as a 2nd rounder, but maybe not sooo healthy that other teams start sliding him up the board.
I've been researching tons of mocks from several stie. Both the "pro" sites and fan sites. I'm amazed at the number of times I see him in the very late first or early second. His conditioning issues are usually at the top of the list to why he falls. On about 50% of Mocks Dan Williams has passed him as the #1 NT prospect.
Give me Arthur Jones or Tyson Alualu in rd2... both of them will be there in the second round... and I think both fit our D-line pretty damn well. Tyson Alualu in particular would make sense on this team...
Your projecting Tyson Alualu as a OLB or MLB? only reason I ask is he doesnt look big enough to be a linemen
He plays in a 3-4 scheme at Cal and I think he would be a perfect fit for this team... he plays with such a good motor from the highlights I've seen. He also seems like a really nice, family guy... I'd be really happy if we take him and I think we have a chance at the bottom of rd 2.
Yeah from the video i saw he was just moving Olinemen out the way and making a play... I think he would be a great addition to the team
Odrick would be a great fit if we considered Pouha a full-time NT, though I agree that the need at that position is more pressing than at 34DE
art jones is the most overrated player in this draft , he gets absolutely no pressure on the qb, and is undersized for a NT
With more teams switching to the 3-4 and possibly the CBA not coming to an agreement and the free agency restriction we may not be in a position to grab Cody or Williams.
What do you mean? I think that the Giants are in the perfect range to pick up either Cody or Williams.
Do you really think Jones is quick enough to be a 34DE? I think he's a better fit as a 3-technique in the 4-3.
A 3-Tech is actually more reliant on quickness to succeed than a 34 DE should be. An ideal 3-tech is Warren Sapp, a player that can use his quickness to disrupt things in the backfield and pressure the quarterback. The idea 34 DE is athletic, yes, but needs to be strong enough to hold the point of attack. Jones has some quickness, but will make his money with the way he can control the line. Some others may differ from my view of 34 DEs, but I'm of the school that you make sure that your ends are powerful first, and everything else second. Not everyone can be Richard Seymour, but I think he can be very good at the position.
