I missed that one. We really have good safeties. Leonard and Eric Smith are such good players, we seem to have gotten back the old Kerry Rhodes. Digs has become a nasty blitzer.

I'd take a HR in April. Would you like to give up a first, and a second for Revis? I would. As long as we pick a great talent, Im ok with 3 pick drafts. Depth can be acquired via FA. You lose some, you gain some.

You know...I completely ignored that we're 4 useful safeties deep.

We need a pass rusher...and some DL depth (Anthony Montgomery in FA would be nice)...I'd prefer DL depth since I think Pace is very good and has upside still...plus I think as long as Gholston is on the roster it's hard to go high on a pass rusher.

I trust Tanny's judgment though, and I think he's on his way to being a top tier GM. This is the draft that defines him because this is a crop that doesn't need to produce a starter, but it does need to provide us with good players...some or one who can possibly start in 2-3 years.

Suh? If Tanny can find great talent, I'd be content with a 3 pick draft (2009). Two pro bowl caliber players in each draft (such as Revis and Harris) and another good player deep in the draft is good enough.

My only worry is that when it comes to re-negotiation, the FO seems to like playing hard ball , even with valuable players like Leon.

I think the FO had done a great job. They have played hard ball where they have the room to do so.

Leon's agent was asking too much, and with the pending CBA mess it was smart for Tanny to let someone at such an injury prone position wait it out a year or two.

I agree the lack of picks has hurt some, but there is another end to that argument.

    Picks traded for Vets:

The Barlow trade cost us a 4th and was useless.

A 3rd and 5th for Jenkins was a steal. Before his injury he was by far our best Dlineman.

The trade donw for jones was money.

A 3rd and 5th in the Edwards trade is so/so. Great in run block and opens things up. If only he could catch the easy balls he would be money.

With that there is also the trading up in the Draft:

The 1st and 2nd to move up for Mark is loooking better and better every week. A potential franchis QB is paramount to any teams/GM's success.

Shonn Greene is becomming a monster. Now if only he can hang on to the ball better. I love this young RB.

Traded up for Revis and Harris. Two of our most important defenders.

    Traded up for KC. ick.

When the do move up, outside of Clemens, they don;t miss and tend to hit the big homerun. We need more depth. Now is the time to start adding it through the draft. That said, if they do move up I'll have confidence they found a true game changer that they feel will put us over the top.

The bolded name is a person who all Jets fans need to familiarize themselves with.

You have no idea what this man has done behind the scenes for the Jets. Tons of credit goes directly to him.

He's the director of college scouting.

He works closely with Tanny on finding the Revis, Mangold, Brick etc.

Every april he is apart of the press conference discussing draft picks. He's part of the braintrust that finds the Stuckey's the Smiths, etc.

He doesn't get the headlines, but he has the ear and trust of the cap specialist that is Tannenbaum.

The fact that Parcells wanted him in Miami speaks volumes.

    hahaha

I hope the guy that makes Tanny look good is telling Mike to get his coffee..... actually, Joey is probably telling Terry Bradway to go get his coffee.

Sadly....I think Bradway could find a way to fuck up "making coffee" too.

He was the vice president of college scouting not the president but the vice president. He used to be the Jets' director of college scouting but got promoted to vice president in 2009.

My only worry is how do they re sign all of their young nasty players. If the NFL has a salary cap going forward I fear we will lose one or more of them.

its the breaks of the system. And it sucks.

But good teams fill that hole and replace them adquately.
