Eagles and Jets swap 4/5 round picks. The Jets have to give the Eagles their 4th Rd pick and the Jets get the Eagle's 5th Rounder. Jet have no 3 & 4 round picks. http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2010/01/some-interesting-revis-stuff.html#ixzz0cVQ46VGb
Shit! That sucks. Tannenbaum really is going to have to wheel-and-deal in this draft. We have to acquire more picks.
No doubt.............trading a player, trading down or future draft picks. The last is my least favorite option. There are going to be some very good players slipping thru our fingers in rd 3 & 4...the waiting will be awful.
Thought O'connell's conditional was in 2011... Wow, we sure are missing some picks in the middle rounds! I think we'll try to trade out of the 1st round... maybe get a high 2nd and 3rd round... I'd do that considering how stacked this year is. I'd also look into trading Rhodes for multiple picks... like a 2nd and a 5th or a 3rd and a 4th. Plus isn't this year the first year where it's: Thursday rd 1 Friday rd 2 & 3 Saturday the rest...? By doing that (trading out of rd 1) they'd have one extra night to analyze what talent is left on the board and who they really want.
PS Aren't we in a good position to get at least one compensatory pick with some of our FAs playing in Cleveland? Compensatory picks In addition to the 32 picks in each round, there are a total of 32 picks awarded at the ends of Rounds 3 through 7. These picks, known as "compensatory picks," are awarded to teams that have lost more qualifying free agents than they gained the previous year in free agency. Teams that gain and lose the same number of players but lose higher-valued players than they gain also can be awarded a pick, but only in the seventh round, after the other compensatory picks. Compensatory picks cannot be traded, and the placement of the picks is determined by a proprietary formula based on the player's salary, playing time, and postseason honors with his new team, with salary being the primary factor. So, for example, a team that lost a linebacker who signed for $2.5 million per year in free agency might get a sixth-round compensatory pick, while a team that lost a wide receiver who signed for $5 million per year might receive a fourth-round pick. If fewer than 32 such picks are awarded, the remaining picks are awarded in the order in which teams would pick in a hypothetical eighth round of the draft (These are known as "supplemental compensatory selections"). Compensatory picks are awarded each year at the NFL annual meeting which is held at the end of March; typically, about three or four weeks before the draft.
I believe it's 2010, but the terms haven't been disclosed. It's anyone's guess what we owe the Pats, I'm hoping nothing.
My Bad...that's right.....that was screwed up situation...we could have gotten O'Connell earlier for squat.
Jets have two 5th round picks, right? Jets and Eagles swap picks (Jets give their fourth in exchange for Eagles 5th). So, doesn't that mean the Jets have the following picks: 1st, 2nd, 5th (Eagles), 5th (Jets), 6th and 7th (depending on O'Connell deal)? Or did the Jets trade their 5th round pick (perhaps I forgot)?
This is the best way to look at it: Kevin O'Connell gave us some information on the Patriots' offense and we were able to win our first matchup with the Patsies. That win got us into the playoffs.
I still think one between Trusnik and the 5th rd pick had to be taken out of that deal... or something like they give us their 6th rder... but what's done is done!
Nope, the only thing that can change is the 3rd rounder, and it can only get worse for us. Luckily, we shouldn't have to worry about it.
Our lack of picks makes me think we might actually trade Rhodes. That's one way to get more picks... We could also trade out of the first. That'd be kinda nice actually...
Based on the past two drafts, they could work out a trade to drop to pick 40 or so and pick up a 3rd rounder and some if they were to lose this weekend. Doing something like that, or even dropping a little less and adding a 4 and a 5 and I'd be happy. Another option for a deal might be Leon Washington, who's status as a RFA will allow the Jets to trade him if they saw fit. I'd been trying to figure out the rules with trading RFAs, and I'm fairly sure as soon as the tender is applied they are tradeable based on recent history. Though, it might have to wait officially until mid April when the tender must be signed.
I'd be cool to trading down to the Top 5/7 picks of rd 2 and get a 4th (which will likely be a high 4) in the process...
