My prediction. I think Seymour wants to play the Pats twice a year and we need a DE. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/12/seymour-would-consider-31-teams/
We will have to lose a lot of low end FA's or one real big one to be able to sign him. I would look toward the Phins to be able to spend the cash and he still gets the bonus of playing NE twice a year and make the money we will most likely not be able to offer. that is unless a new CBA is completed and all the current BS goes out the window.
If this happens, I'm saying there is a 99% chance that Seymour signs with the Jets. If not, the Dolphags seem much more likely. San Diego delenda est.
i asked this before but never got an answer... would we need to lose a big time elite FA to sign an elite FA? or do we just have to lose someone who is paid like one? because this would certainly be a good cause to drop Gholston, or for any other single elite FA that might put us over the top...
I dont think he will become a Jet. I know he wants revenge on the Pats but I dont think the Jets would be willing to pay the cash for a player past his prime like Seymour.
"The rule will restrict the final eight teams in the playoffs from signing free agents. The final four teams shall not be permitted to negotiate and sign any unrestricted free agent to a player contract except for players who acquired their status by being cut or were on the final four team when their contract expired. Playoff teams five thru eight get a break to sign one player with a salary of $4,925,000 or more and any number of players with a first-year salary of no more than $3,275,000 and an annual increase of no more than 30 percent in the following years. There is a mechanism to permit the final eight teams to sign an unrestricted free agent for each one of their own unrestricted free agents who sign with another club as long as they don't spend more than what their own lost player received from his new club." I'm sure that clears it up.... http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d808736ba&template=with-video&confirm=true
Why? The CBA helps us with our own guys Like Edwards and Washington. The Days of adding through FA are gone for us. Revis is going to need a big time contract soon. Same goes for Mangold and Brick. Locking those three up and playing the RFA game with EDwards and Washington is a much better thing for us than one free agent will be.
My prediction is that Seymour is a Kansas City Chief next season. I'm totally going out on a limb on this one, I know.
I would absolutely LOVE him here. Imagine Seymour AND Jenkins at the line. There I had my wet dream. --------------------------------------------------------------------- But can we get him? I doubt it. Or... we could play with the rule a bit - giving Seymour a cheap 1 year deal, then locking him up for a long time. He is a 3-4 DL, so his best years are still ahead of him for good 5-6 years.
Not too far out on a limb. His old DC is there, they're running a 3-4, they're going to have the money to throw at him. It makes sense. San Diego delenda est.
Hehe, yeah I was being kind of sarcastic there, same system and same coaches makes it pretty likely he's gonna be wearing red and white in 2010.
