I don't really know if you can call him a joke. He's a heck of a recruiter and he's one of the better young offensive coaches in all of college football.

Kiffin's a huge douchebag and he's full of himself, but he's not a bad coach.

    What a sleazy SOB.

And what a great hire for a program facing sanctions. Hire the ultimate walking, bragging recruiting violation himself.

If he keeps his mouth shut he'll have a ton of success.

I'm pretty sure USC made this hire so they wouldn't lose a lot of players due to transfer.

Monte Kiffin's defense is going to own the PAC-10.

I wonder if Bryce Brown's gonna go against what "god" told him to do and leave Tennessee?

brilliant move by u.s.c.let lane get the experience he is lackng while they sit on probtion for the next 3 years.and lane gets out of s.e.c. territory where he pissed off and alienated any and everyone he came and contact with.i think he'll have a good run out there.

The fact that Bryce Brown now has to eat a pound of shit is the best news I've heard all day. Good move by Kiffin too, getting out of the SEC as quick as he could.

Norm Chow going full circle back to USC, too?

You guys can joke on Kiffin, but that combo would be great. Again.

I'm willing to bet they'll be a national title contender pretty soon.

I just have a hard time seeing him going back to the same position he left, working FOR the guy who replaced him.

It'll be a hell of a lot better than working at UCLA under Rick Neuheisel.

I fuckin hate USC, one of the most overhyped teams of the decade.

    How are they over-hyped?

Something like 87 wins this decade - that's fucking ridiculous consistency.

Three Heisman trophy winners: Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, and Reggie Bush.

    A national title.

    Multiple trips to BCS bowls.

Tons and tons of players having success in the NFL - I can't even name them all and I don't want to look them up. Brian Cushing, Clay Matthews, and Rey Rey are just one position unit from their 2008 team - all three were damn good as rookies.

They always have ridiculously good recruiting classes...and that won't change.

Gotta be honest, I did not see this coming.

So if Chow is going to USC, who is Carroll bringing in to run the Seahawks offense?

    San Diego delenda est.

I think Norm's at the point where it's more of a legacy thing. He knows that he's too old to be a head coach, so everything he's remembered for will be as an offensive coordinator. When it comes down to it, why not be at USC and get a shot at winning some more titles?

And this team is going to be title quality very soon, just too much talent on that roster not to be. Chris Galippo is going to be a monster, and I have a good feeling that about CJ Gable and Allen Bradford (and Marc Tyler, and that McNeal kid, etc. etc.) together in that backfield without McKnight. Ron Johnson's going to be next year's breakout wide receiver on top of that.

Jeremy Bates, who was with him for one season with the Trojans, and the Broncos OC before that.
