My wife noticed an avatar on here (i looked and looked for it but couldn't find the post) of a little kid wearing a jet jacket. This is from today's NY Daily News...just wondered if it's the same kid and if Tom posts on here... http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2010/01/11/2010-01-11_hes_goo_goo_gaga_over_jets.html
Westchester man Tom Schonberg who named son after New York Jets believes he helped end team's curse Oh baby - now that's a Jets fan! A die-hard Jets fanatic from Westchester named his first-born son after his beloved Gang Green last February as a way to breathe new life into the losing team and reverse its cursed streak. Now, with a string of wins under the team's belt - including Saturday's wild-card playoff victory - Tom Schonberg, 39, has no doubt his plan is working. "I honestly think the curse is legitimate and this has reversed it," said Schonberg, 39, who named his 11-month-old son Jake Edward Thomas Schonberg - or JETS. "My wife thought it was a little crazy, but she knew how much the Jets meant to me," said Schonberg, an insurance broker from Mount Vernon. "I'm there for the Jets. I'll do anything I can to help." During the week, the family calls the adorable blue-eyed, blond-haired youngster Jake, as a compromise with his wife, Angela, who thought it was going too far to name their baby after a team. But each Sunday, when the couple dresses the boy in full Jets regalia to watch the game, they call him "Jet." "I'm very passionate about the Jets," said Schonberg, who commissioned a Jets ice sculpture at his wedding four years ago and even postponed his honeymoon for a day so he could squeeze in a game. "I probably take it a little too far." Angela, 34, a physical therapist at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, seemed to agree. "At least football's a short season," she quipped. Schonberg - a third-generation Jets fan who grew up surrounded by Giants fans - said he got the idea for his son's name after his friends convinced him he had personally cursed his beloved Jets by being born. Schonberg was born in 1970, a year after the team's last Super Bowl win, a detail not lost on his friends. "My friends think I'm a living jinx," he said. "So I needed to do something to change it up." Naming his son after the team is just the beginning. Though not even a year old, "Jet" already owns a roomful of team paraphernalia, from onesies to towels and toys. And the youngster's first words may very well be the Jets' famous cheer. When Schonberg flew home triumphantly from Cincinnati Sunday, the first thing he did was pick up his son - decked out in his full mini Jets gear, of course - and bounce him on his hip as he led his extended family in the chant. "J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets," he cheered as he gave his son a big kiss and added proudly: "We did it, buddy."
That's a great story... I think Tom Brady cursed the Pats when he named his bastard son Jet. Point for Bridget Moynahan.
hmy: wowzah j/k They just did the story on PIX. He went to the game last week and is going to SD also. Says he has JETS player blood in his family from back in theday and had Season Tix for years....
But he didn't name him - SHE did, after he was caught with sperm bank Jizzell. For that spite, Bridget should earn two points at least.
How do you convince your wife to name your kid after the Jets? She must not have realized at the time.
