Last I looked the Chargers pass defense was ok but nothing special. Sanchez has had some big drops by his WR's that would have counted for td's and huge gains. Most of these come off the play action. If our run game sets the tone, the Chargers can be set to give up huge gains through the air. Don;t forget the Brad Smith tiger formation as well. Do the Chargers have an answer for this? I'm trying to forget the argument on defense for now. We know ours is good and the Chargers can "maybe" exploit a few mismatches. I am feeling confident about Sanchez in the air for some crazy reason.
Can He ??? Probably .... My hope is that he doesn't have to ... I'd love to see him throw less than 10 passes and us rush for 250+ yds
All you need to do is look at how the Raven dismantled the Pats pass heavy attack. They forced Brady into a few turnovers, ran the ball down their throats, won in a blowout and Flacco threw for only 30 yds. If we can run the ball, force Rivers into a turnover or two, and keep Sanchez on a leash we are golden. If we don't play the perfect game on defense though, we might have to take our chances and I kind of like them against this suspect Chargers defense.
I can definitely see Sanchez throwing the ball this week. He is back at home in Southern Cal and the weather suites him well. Hopefully, Schotty uses the same strategy or game-plan that we used last week, run the ball and take shots down-field when the shots are there. Do not force anything, that we do not need to.
Preferably he throws fewer than 20 times again and we gash them w/the run. With that high powered SD offense, he may have to beat them though.
Sanchez is going back to the climate he was used to in college and performed very well last time he was in such conditions. I think Sanchez will have a good game, may even have a huge one to keep pace or gain extra lead against the Chargers that have the ability to either run away with the lead, or erase it with in a matter of a few plays. So, Yes.
I'm hopinh that we can limit his attempts again and win this by pounding the balldown thier throats in the run game. ....is any one else amazed that Flacco won yesterday with 10 attempts for 34 yards? ...and I thought we had passing game woes lol.
Sanchez in SoCal This is his hometown, he should be fine going back and throwing...and unless Schotty completely loses his mind we should be running about 45 times on Sunday which should leave only about 15-20 attempts for Madison Mark
16-18 pass attempts is fine with me from Sanchez. The weather will be in his favor, so that is what has increased the attempts from the Bengals game to a max. of 18 from 15 on Saturday. I feel that he threw the ball well even in the cold on Saturday, imagine in the warmth?
I think we'll be able to run on the Chargers. First preference would def. be to establish the run then roll Sanchez out of the pocket on play action.
Sorry, but I think the Chargers will shut down your running offense. Fresh bodies in the Chargers DL on every down will wear out your OL. Remember, the Bolts don't have their stud nose, Jamal, since week 1 and Rivera has schemed pretty well since the LAST Chargers' loss, against Denver in week 5. It all comes down to Sanchez throwing the ball and I think he gets picked multiple times. Brian was Brees' coach in 2005, when your team beat the Chargers in the wildcard game in San Diego, but you had Chad and stud center/nasty Mawae.
Have you seen our O-line? Shut down our run game? Do you realize we have 3 pro bowlers on that oline?
Nick Mangold is no pushover. And the Chargers were 20th in the league at stopping the run in the regular season.
USC fans will be out in force to root for Sanchez on the west coast. it'll be interesting to see how strong the home field advantage is due to that fact.
