Trust me you guys want to play the Colts rather than the chargers. The problem is you can have pefect coverage all day on the chargers and they will STILL catch the ball. They have been doing it all year. I think alot of you are thinking to the 2004 version of the team which is nothing like this team. No McCardell, Brees, eric parker, reche caldwell etc. The Chargers this year can out jump any secondary in the league and they WILL get big plays on you. If not its not like our underneath game to sproles LT Gates and co is exactly terrible. If you have been watching the Chargers lately you saw a team that had dominated some of the better teams in this league. Plus the Chargers have been running the ball much better the last several weeks. The jets can't win a shootout with the Chargers and I don't see them as being the team that keeps the chargers from scoring 20 for a 23rd straight game. Keep in mind at home the chargers have scored at least 20 in 43 of their last 45 home games. I know your riding high after your playoff win right now but the last place you want to go is cross country to san diego to play the chargers. It could get ugly.
I think the Colts would be an easier win. They were only up by 5 win they pulled their starters. The media seems to forget that in their uproar.
I chose the Chargers, because it means the Patriots would be ELIMINATED. Saying that, I think the Chargers are better than the Colts.
True that even if the jets beat the chargers i would be happy the pats were done b4 us. Then again I want to play the pats too. Ah well revenge against the Jets will be so SWEEET
I don't really care, I like our chances against either one of them. I'll root for the Ravens tomorrow because its against the Pats and it leaves the championship game at home in play. I do also think we match up better with the CHargers.
I know that. This is what I know of the 2 qb's. Brees was better at hitting his RB's. Rivers is the better down the field passer but brees is good too. The real difference is this. Rivers is MUCH more Clutch than drew brees. Look how often brees fumbles throws picks and takes sacks at crucial moments in games. He did it as a charger and has done it as a saint. Rivers is more of a touchdown or INT guy in the clutch. Meaning that his drives in the clutch hardly ever end on downs. It's either a td or int and mostly its a TD. Rivers was the mvp of 5 bowl games in college and is just a better QB than Brees where it matters. Plus his numbers aren't exactly bad either. 28 td's 9 ints the only starting QB in the league to not have a game where he threw more ints than tds in a game. Sure Brees had 33 tds and 11 ints but in games where the difference was 7 points or less Brees was 3-2 barely beating washington and atlanta. Rivers was 6-1.
I say in the p[layoffs you don't care who you play. You just go out there and give it your absolute best effort and leave nothing on the field. These guys are peaking at the right time of year. You can see it. If you are for real, you have to beat the best - that's just the way it is.
Bring on San Diego! They cannot run the ball and the Jets have the best passing defense in the league.
As a former Charger season ticket holder In am well aware of how good you guys are but you can have all that but you leave out the X factor. Norv Turner who could fuck up walking to get his mail. I don't care how great you guys are he's still one of the worst coaches in NFL history. While I'd love to see you guys coming out of the AFC if it's not us you know at some point Hives is going to strike and send the Chargers down in a ball of flames. The question is will it be next week or the following? BTW the thing you also leave out is that the Jets are playing on house money so they have nothing to lose at this point. Ryan may think the Jets should be favored but most Jet fans know we're not the best team in the AFC but when you've got nothing to lose anything is possible.
i have a dinner to attend on that saturday night...so i hope we play the chargers. Plus this would mean the ravens beat the pats and we could potentially host a AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
