So Revis was flagged 3 times today, one of the replays wasn't shown at all on TV but the 2 they did show were utterly ridiculous. Do you think the refs were instructed to call it really tight on him? We know the NFL rules already blatantly favor the passing game but it seemed like they really had it out for Revis today.
I wouldn't doubt it... sorta like what Donaghy wrote about in his book about guys like Raja Bell (good defenders) getting bs fouls called on them so they don't shut down superstar players.
Possible. But I think it's more likely these refs were just bad--People are eager to say they were favoring the Bengals, but I think they just sucked. If it happens next week, it's definitely something to watch out for.
I'm guessing the Bengals coaching staff had a talk with the refs saying that in film they noticed Revis getting away with PI and illegal contact, and that always makes the refs look extra hard. 90% of those calls were bullshit of course
I was screaming at the TV.....fucking Caldwell pushed off of Revis...and Revis was flagged.......the refs were severely retarded today. Thank god we overcame it....Herm/Mangini would've folded like a tent.
1st of all...when LITO gets flagged it's all hell... Seriously though, It's obvious the NFL forces that call in the playoffs. It has to be because the COLTS are in the playoffs. They are already going back to when the Rules were changed/enforced because of them. It's their way of putting the agressive play "on Notice"
Yeah I was pretty riled over that too. I don't think it was intentional.. just retarded. OT, sorry, but did anyone see that pass downfield near the end of the game that dropped down like 2 feet in front of Revis? That should have been any easy pick but he slowed down and didn't even go after it. Not criticizing the Christ, just thought it was really bizarre.. he could have ended the game right there.
This is why the Jets better be at the NFL Offices pronto tonight. The Zebras tried to take Revis out of this game, with some of the worst calls (and officiating) I have seen in a playoff game since Super Bowl XL (Steelers v. Seahawks, with the Zebras the Steelers' "12th Man"). If they make, excuse me, manufacture calls against Revis like they did today, the Jets will not have a chance next week.
Revis had excellent coverage on Caldwell.....Caldwell BLATANTLY pushes off of Revis....hell, there must've been about 5 yards between them when the pass was thrown.....it was a complete joke.
I think conspiracy theories are pretty rarely true. My view is that refs simply don't see defenders like Revis who get in receivers' heads so easily and completely, and they automatically figure that he can only be effective if he's crossing the line.
Without question Revis is getting more calls against him because of his success. It happens to every really good cornerback (see: Ty Law.)
I agree with you whole-heartedly but what I'm saying is that the refs won't allow contact and it always goes against the D. It's Pussy ball.
