Good News!! The more the merrier I say!! I'm waiting for Heyward to declare, it will be a mistake if he stays.
He made a comment, about 2 weeks ago, he will probably stay for another year. It wasn't a definative comment. Here in Columbus, the media is saying a 50/50 chance. Nothing official yet.
Heyward is staying for his senior season. http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=17300&ATCLID=204865326 Now the Jets can set their sights on Cody and Williams in the 1st.
Mike Iupati and Bryan Bulaga should be considered...especially if the Jets beat Cincy on Saturday. A nose tackle would be awesome, but Denver should grab one of the two. The one that remains will probably go before our pick as well. The only way I can see this team getting a top tier nose tackle is by trading up, and we don't have the ammo to do that.
The Columbus Media is still reporting that Heyward is looking at his options. Don't be surprised if Heyward declares in the next few days. He had the NFL look into his possible draft status. That is an OSU publication and the quote is from a few weeks ago.
It really blows my mind when top rated players decide to stay in school. DeAndre McDaniel actually believes Clemson has a chance at winning a championship...without CJ Spiller. I can definitely see Ohio State contending for a National Championship though. Still, take the money and run.
You're spot on! Heyward would be a lock to be a 1st rd pick. I'm holding out hope that he declares, that OSU publication is "homerism" at it's best, they've been wrong in the past.
Tough to get excited about it, though. If Heyward declares, odds are that he goes before pick 21 ---- which is where we'll be if we lose on Saturday.
I'd rather go OL than NT. Iupati in the 1st or Mike Johnson in the 2nd would be pretty sweet. Iupati and Eric Norwood would be a nice haul.
If we go with an 0-lineman I hope it's Iupati..I saw the bowl game and he was pushing and blocking people around like crazy.
Smart move, he could be the first QB taken next year if he has a good season. Take notes Jevan Snead.
There were a few other reports not from an OSU website, I trust that he will stay in school for his senior year. Don't forget, Ndamukong Suh was a lock to be a 1st rd pick for last year's draft and he decided to go back for his senior season. Now he's a lock to be a Top 3 selection in April. I think Heyward's motivation to go back is two-fold. First, to be a senior leader on a team with National Championship aspirations and second, to raise his draft stock similar to what Suh did this year. I don't think he can boost it to a Top 3 selection, but Top 10 depending on who is drafting there is possible. (Marvin Austin is doing the same thing, minus wanting to be a leader).
