If he calls game like he has the weeks after the New England game (sans the Atlanta game) I have no problem with him returning. If he calls games like a fuckin moron then he should be gone. This playoff game is huge. If he calls a good game and we ultimately win, you better believe he's gonna interview for some HC jobs.
I'm not sure where I fall on the pro-Schotty anti-Schotty scale for the future - if people think that Sanchez could be the real deal (and I do), an OC who has some unpredictability in him could be a good thing. I think they asked too much of Sanchez this year, but I don't necessarily think it would be too much next year. Having said that, it seems pretty obvious to me that he realizes that any decent jobs are going to the Shanahans and Grudens, and he's not really interested in going to Oakland.
All of your comments are "misleading" and are intended to drive him out of town, not "advance his career". That's not the type of image that is going to make you a head coach. Although, the Raiders are in need of a "young, up-and-coming coach in his thirties". Like you didn't already know that.
I think Schotty finally realizes how he's supposed to call the games. I've been really happy with his playcalling recently and dont mind if he stays assuming he stays on course and doesn't call it like it's Madden 09
Let's see if he turns down any interviews..good chance Buffalo may want to talk to him I read. He makes good money and there is always the chance Ryan may not want to keep him although that isn't how he talks..Schottenheimer is speaking the right line now.
I wouldn't mind Hackett right now, especially over Schotty. He is a great developer of QBs', which we could use right now. He specializes in a high percentage, ball-control offense. While I think Callahan as a run-first OC would be even better, Hackett's style fits our defense dominated team much better than air-it-out Schotty and his high flying bullshit.
Hey Hey, Let the man stay for a few years then let him go pursue other teams, having him leave will only hinder Sanchez's development hate it or not we need Shotty here for a while, he'll get better at playcalling, now that he has a young QB to develop I think it will work out fine
Buffalo. He wants to stay the hell away from Buffalo. He really wants a warm weather job and Tampa Bay will be opening up next season. Oakland is not a consideration because the only way Al Davis takes him is if he thinks he can really screw the Jets by doing so.
I kinda want schotty to stay because Sanchez has spent all year learning his system and I think he would struggle more next year with a new OC. As much as people hate schotty he has the potential to be a good OC he is just limited with a rookie QB. I know he hasnt done a good job for most of the year and tried to do too much but that doesnt mean hes going to be bad in the future. I bet if he was the OC of the Colts, Chargers, Saints, Vikings, Giants, Pats, Texans, Packers, or Cardinals people would think he was doing a much better job cus those are teams with more to work with.
He makes more in one year than you will your entire lifetime. SO,,,go flip another cheeseburger and have a fry while you are at it.
Whatever. Schotty can only get better to be honest & I don't know how good it would be for Mark if Schotty just left after Mark's first year.
i'm in the rare camp that thinks schotty isn't a horrible offensive coordinator....we've had MUCH worse...yes he does get too cute sometimes but overall i think he's an above average coordinator
1. So... you're all content with Sanchez getting accustomed to a sucky system, for the sake of continuity? Boy, what the hell are you guys smoking? I need some of that. I will say it here again. Brian's system, which is a derivative of Chudzinski system, SUCKS. See how Cleveland failed so miserably before Mangini took over. (Not that Mangini was a franchise-redeeming success either but...) 2. I am with the "Probably he realized he's not wanted by anybody" camp now. His body of work says more than enough about this.
Would anyone want to coach in Buffalo? Is TO included? Schotty ain't the best but the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
I can't believe some people actually believe we would have been better off with Hackett. The man was completely inflexable, called the same plays no matter if we were winning or losing by whatever margin. People think Schotty put too much on Sanchez's plate? I say, no scream BS. This is the NFL folks. Whether you are a rookie or not, you should be able to throw for 200 yards, a TD and keep the turnovers at or under 2 EVERY game. Sanchez is going to have to make some plays this week. Our running game is great, but against 9 in the box, maybe even TEN on some plays, Sanchez is going to have to make some reads and some good throws. After several loses, they stuck the pacifier back in Sanchez's mouth. It's time, now, to take it away. Or we will lose. Before the Sanchez nut huugers crawl up my arse... let me say I think he CAN get it done. The Cinci safeties suck, point blank. I think Keller could play a very big part in this game, especially late in the first half, maybe not until the 2nd half, but if we are to win, Sanchez has to make some plays in the passing game. This is the playoffs. Cinci knows how we run the ball. They will look for Faneca to pull, and then send 10 into the box. Their base D will probably be 9 in the box. Read what the Bengals DC said about Mangold and Faneca. He flat out called them all pros, not just pro bowlers. This opponent is going to be absolutely loaded to stop the run. LOADED. An experienced QB could carve them up IMO if what I expect to see happens. I think, I hope Sanchez can pull this off. And I don't want to hear (although it will happen) that Schotty put "too much" on Sanchez in this game. It's time for our QB to show some flashes of goodness... not greatness... in this game.
