The thing is anybody who played sports... not even at a high level knows you stand more of a chance to get hurt when your not playing hard then when you are. Lewis would have been nuts to tell his guys go in there and don't play hard. You knew the Jets were going to play hard and sending guys in there half heartedly is asking for guys to get hurt. I do agree they may have been vanilla but not playing to win is another thing. I heard a comment by Lewis that was something to the effect of "we're not good enough to turn it on and off" that alone told me he at least wanted to play to win. If the Bengals turned it off on Sunday according to their own coach they aren't good enough to turn it back Saturday.
I guarantee that if the Jets had beaten the Falcons he would say that wasn't a real game either because the Falcons were eliminated the night before. Does the bashing ever stop? Every day! What happens if they beat the Bengals on Saturday? What's the new bashing theme next week? I guarantee he'll whip out the schedule and say how the Bengals last 3 wins were lions browns and chiefs. He'll say the Bengals backed into the playoffs too and all the Jets did was beat a team that didn't deserve to be there like them.

Some guy just called and said the Jets only won 3 of the games because the Raiders, Panthers, and Titans put in their backup QBs. The Panthers and Raiders did that because we were killing them, and the titans didn't know about Young yet, wtf.

After all it's a cupcake game even then those teams beat top playoff teams.
