First, the giants ask permission to interview Rex for their DC job, but settled for sutton after tanny sweetened the deal by including gholston, shotty, rhodes, and our 2010 and 2011 first round pics

take him with pleasure maybe we throw in a conditional 7th round pick if the giants finish in the bottom half of the league in defense

This is yet another benefit of having the NFL know you have the top ranked defense.

Ya, but teams should know how bad it was with Mangina and Sutton running it.

Sutton has been a pretty decent linebackers coach for us the past 10 years. Well, except for those 3 seasons when he completely shit the bed as defensive coordinator.

Point is we still have the guy and the defense is good so it's been proven that he can be a part of a successful unit.

why do people think that because he was the linebackers coach on a Pettine/Ryan schemed defense is he magically going to be a better DC even though he was complete shit here for three years?

Can anyone explain that logic, because its not logical.

I've got nothing as to why Coughlin would want him. His track record as a DC is terrible. He's never worked with Coughlin. He was one of Al Groh's assistants, not Parcells' so there's no common connection. I really do not see what Coughlin could see in him as a DC.

Maybe some of his failures were because of Mangini's scheme. He certainly didn't stay in the league or with one team for ten years without having some talent as a positions coach. Still, I cannot rap my head around this(possible) move.

Cimini: Giants targeting Sutton as DC

    http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/

Hey, that's what Rich says. I don't think any Jet fans will lose any sleep over the possibility of losing Sutton.

It has been awhile since we've bashed him though, so feel free...

it will, however, be hilarious if Sutton does well with the Giants... like a top 12 defense.

It's just impossible to fathom. It's like saying Schotty would do well in Buffalo.

that wouldn't be hilarious, that would be infuriating.

But its Buffalo. He'll punt on 3rd down because no one sees it coming.

Sorry. Did a thread check and everything, but didn't think to check for MWAAAMAMMMAMAMMM, or whatever the hell the thread title was.

It's so much more efficient if people put an actual topic in the thread title.

Mods please merge or delete. Sorry.
