When we lost to the Jaguars our season was over according to every media outlet. Then when we lost to the Patriots and fell to 4-6 it just started getting embarrassing. Obviously we came back, but once again after the Falcons loss we were once again dead. Thanks to the Raiders beating the Broncos we had life. Then when you looked at the standings their are 2 8-6 teams and 6 7-7 teams. Who honestly thought that out of the 8 teams, the Jets would be one of them? It was a dream, nothing more than a dream. So now i'm sitting here living a dream, am I in a dream?
i said the jets would make it to my girlfriends uncle around thanksgiving... although I can't say I fully believed it...I wanted to but was honestly just reaching
I did. I have a friend on this board his name is Salz. After the Jets lost to Atlanta i told him all the jets have to do is win out and their in. If the colts bench their starters Jets are going to the playoffs I said, and everything happened like i predicted. Im the same guy who in 2002 said jets would make the playoffs after the awful loss to the bears.
4-6, played three teams that were worse than the jets and couldn't deal with the run and got to 7-6. Atlanta game was a tough one, but then faced two teams with nothing to play for, while the other teams that needed to get into the playoffs fucked up their chances in a true SOJ fashion - so I guess every team is SOJ at one point in their history (that's why SOJ is stupid, every team does it, but 90% of Jets fans don't follow the whole NFL. This is for a different thread/discussion) The Jets beat up on those two teams who rested the starters in the 2nd half, while the teams that needed to win that had tiebreakers on the Jets ruined their seasons.... no this isn't that far fetched. The Jets are dangerous as long as Sanchez doesn't force a throw and turn the ball over.
they are turning into it aren't they. There is no bigger blunder than back to back failures like the Broncos. if they go 4-6 in their last 10 they make the playoffs. Embarrassing. The Jets aren't the only team in the league who lose in unthinkable ways year after year.
I told my brother that the Jets would make the playoffs, call me super optimistic but I refused to believe that with the top D and top running O that we would be left out. You can also ask him about being the only family member who watched the whole game of the monday night miracle while everyone else went to bed...
i thought we were done after the atlanta game, until just about everything fell our way. then looking ahead at our schedule and our playoff scenarios, i realized they had a 50/50 or better shot. the thing that kills me is that both miami games, the buffalo game and the atlanta game are games we should have won by at least 10 each. that's good enough for 13-3 and a bye in the first round, a 5-11 miami team. still, very thankful.
4-6 was buried and done. The loss to the Falcons was decisive in ending the Jets season early. Yeah, I'm happy right about now. 3 or 4 teams had to choke to make it happen but it still feels good.
When I was in 4th grade, I thought we had no shot. Now since we are in and I am in 9th grade, I am PUMPED!
after the falcons game i finally turned it in, even though i was very positive the jets could still do their end to win the final 2 games, i didnt have as much faith in the chips falling the way that they did as far as other teams losing.
This shit happens every year, just not to us. Half the league is between 7-9 and 9-7 most of the time, if you have good tie-breakers and get hot late anything can happen and usually does. Sometimes you get a fluke like last year where 11-5 New England didn't make it and sometimes we're 4-12 so we don't notice it, but this year is more common than uncommon.
WHile in a Bar in Tampa enjoying the fruits of our win, EcKo looks at me and asks, So, Royal Tee...Mr.Realist. are the JETS making the Playoffs? Even after that win....I answered, NO. Based on how the cards were stacked not on how our team just played. IMO, We needed so much to break for us. The fact that the very next week I was freezing my ass off and watching this team LOSE to the Falcons Iwas like fuk, I was right..... then, something happened.
he's growing before our eyes. This will continue to happen for another 2 years, maybe even more. Shit, Peyton Manning is getting better and he doesn't have Marvin Harrison anymore. Disclaimer for all: I'm not comparing Sanchez to Manning.
I was crushed after leaving that game- Once I got home and saw all the other outcomes, I still was hoping. I feel like they're in every year until mathematically out of it. Makes rooting for a team more fun.
