just when we want them to win the patriots decide to blow a 14 point lead... not the Ben-gal's have something to play for.

I still don't see them playing their starters the whole game.

The NYJ should be able to win this game regardless of who CIN plays. This is do or die.

Exactly. I am getting a little pissed with so many Jets fans hoping for the Bengals back-ups. Like we can't beat them with their starters? If you feel that way then why even cheer for the Jets to win just to be eliminated in Cincy next week. The Jets can beat them.

The 3 or 4 seed is really meaningless. I doubt the Bengals were sitting around watching this game before deciding what they were going to do tonight. The decision was made long ago.

Well we'd have to beat them with their starters once up there as is, why try it twice if you don't have to? But we'll probably have to now.

i agree but i was just pointing out the cincy has a reason to play for real now... i think we can win regardless of who they put on the field but now they will probably play their starters for longer.

The Jets have always been better off not walking into a "should-win" scenario. I'd be much happier to see them have to play up to the level of a full strength Cincy team with something to play for than to be up against a bunch of unknown backups. I'm glad NE lost.

And it looks like they may have lost Welker for next week. At the very least, he will be playing on one bad wheel.

You can't say the Pats didn't try to win. The Bengals still don't really have anything to play for. You think they're going to risk the ehalth of their starters just to get home field in case they play the Pats in the playoffs?

I think the Jets are a better team overall then the Bengals...if the Jets comeout & play like the 2002 Jets did vs the Packers, the Bengals can play everyone, the Jets should beat them....

The way I look at it, our chances are undeniably better against inferior players. It's logical to prefer to play against the Cincy back-ups, because that simply means our chances of winning, and therefore making the playoffs, improve. Period. We can beat their starters twice, and we're gonna have to beat them twice no matter what. But if you can have an easier match-up for one of the games, why wouldn't you hope for it?

Having said that (Larry David shout-out), they're probably sitting their starters after the first half.

It's also a question of whether they would like to fight to play the 6 seed or play the Jets again next week.

Agree. I was actually rooting for the Texans. I'm sick of hearing we are backing in. I want the Bengals to play to win and get their teeth kicked in.

The Patriots game was irrelevant to the Jets. The Jets need to beat Cincinnati's starters one way or the other, whether it's this week, next week, or both.

I'm tired of hearing it as well. Mostly by Giants fans. I've also heard a lot of our "weak schedule".

I hope they play their starters, get shut out, and lose a key starter (something minor, high ankle sprain or something...I'm not that mean). Maybe then people will realize why the Colts didn't want Peyton and company playing this defense.
