Are you talking about the 51-45 win over Miami? He never caught a 100 yd TD, he did have a 96 yarder against Buffalo the year before in orchard Park.
yes i was talking about that game. we won in overtime with a bomb to one-eye-walker. in my memory banks, it was at least a 100 yards!!!! edit: maybe even closer to 200 yards!
Chrebet was definitely my favorite. The guy had heart and determination. Something you wished all players had!
These polls are pretty useless since all they prove is how long U have been a NYJ fan. The youngies go for like Toon who do to his concussion problem never became a super productive WR like Rice who was drafted in the same year. Since Don Maynard is in the HOF whereas Toon is not hands down he should be the winner but since most on this board never/ever saw him play they vote for someone they saw & may be even like the Tooooooooooooooooon call the fans used to do after he made a catch so they vote for him for that reason. Either way IMHO it is a totally flawed poll do to so many youngies on this board vs oldies who either laugh at the foolishness of the poll so they do not decide to even chime in or are not have a TGG account
George Sauer Power was vital to our only SB win- 8 receptions for 133 yards, he should be a Jet god, and his number(83) should be retired.
If someone wants to pick Keyshawn they need to be educated in Jets history. The 4 up there are the right ones (although the Sauer argument is very good). I voted Toon. Amazing talent, heart, work ethic, clutch player. True Jet.
I think that Keyshawn and Coles were both better than Cherbet. The other three guys are the only ones that should be up on the list though. Hard to believe that Cherbet got more votes than our three best receivers combined. I picked Walker but really liked Toon as well. Maynard was probably the best but he was before my time.
I'd have to agree that Maynard, Toon and Walker i would rank higher than Chrebet. But Chrebet really was the clutch, team first player moving the chains when Meshawn was here. I thought he was the more valuable player, and proved it when playing against Meshawn in TB. Coles had his good years too, but i'd definitely put Chrebet 4th and ahead of those jokers.
Everyone is voting for their favorite Jets WR, as the original title of the poll suggested. The best, or greatest Jet WR is not even debatable. It's the guy with the Super Bowl ring, the retired number, and the Hall-of-Fame membership.
Key was MUCH better than Chrebet, not even a discussion. The problem w/ Key is he only played 4 years here. if he played his entire career here he'd be up there w/ Maynard and Toon foir best Jets WR of all time.
Chrebet is barely a top 10 all time Jets WR. He may be top 5 all time fan favorite jets player though. Sauer, Toon, Walker, Maynard, Keyshawn, Moore, Coles and Cotchery were all better than Chrebet. I loved Chrebet though.
What do base that argument on? Meshawn played 1 solid season for the Jets in 98, and Chrebets stats were right on par that year. Yet Chrebet had more big plays, a higher 1st down %, and was the go to guy on 3rd down. The rest of Meshawn's time here was full of distraction and putting himself before the team. Chrebets numbers were always comparable or better, yet he was tougher, more consistent in the clutch, and was a team first guy. The best thing Meshawn did for the Jets was getting traded for top picks. TB got robbed on that. I wouldn't put Meesh anywhere near the top 10. Never understood this boards love for talent over production, toughness, and teamwork. The same folk who talk about Meesh probably still hold a candle for Abraham too.
Chrebet was a solid player who gave his all. But he never scared a defense or made a defense prepare to stop him. Would always love him on my team, but he was not a great #1 receiver
