In this thread you can discuss, analyze, insult and make fun of the picks the other TGG users made... http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=52093
I'll start off by wondering why so many people like Terrance Cody but fail to mention Dan Williams as well. Not as big, but also less likely to wear down fast because he's ina bit better shape. He's going to be a monster for someoen at the NT position.
Because Cody's didn't get the nickname "Mt. Cody" for nothing. He busts up almost every running play, he has an incredible motor for a guy his size, and he's big enough that he makes an impact even if he's being blocked. Williams is a great prospect too, but he's not gonna make the immediate impact that Cody will. The one guy who I sincerely hope the Jets will target with their second round pick is Brandon Lafell. Lafell is a big guy with decent speed, great hands, and exceptional body control. I think that he can be a great possession receiver in the NFL.
I saw that WW had Greg Romeus from Pitt listed i watched a little bit of Pitts bowl game and he immediately jumped out at me this guy seems to have a high motor and a good nose for the ball. They through out a stat that he had a high number of tackles for a loss as well. Where does this kid sit as far as draft position (if he comes out i know he is a jr) and how would he fit in a 3-4 system like the Jets?
Romeus is an impressive player that has opened my eyes. A player that is only a Junior, but I expect Romeus to declare. Would be a good DE in the Jet's system. A player that will be on the rise in the next few months before the draft. 2010's draft the year of the 3-4 DE...Jets better get some.
Romeus may be our best bet at landing a 3-4 DE in the first round...even if Cam Heyward declares, he'll be long gone before our pick.
Quite a few options for the DE position. Let's hope Tanny doesn't get antsy and want to trade up.....we need picks. There is really no player I would trade up for in Rd 1 (early to mid-teens) to sacrifice picks. We will get a very good player in the Mid 20's range.
I really want more picks, thats the first thing, I think we have lots of really strong players but really lack depth, so a couple home runs at the top and then lets get some youth to develop, I have my XMAS list in my signature but I am also leaning towards a dropping Dunlap or Dan Williams
A name that hasn't been discussed much is UCLA DT Brian Price. He stands 6'2" at 300 lb and had 22,5 TFL and 7 sacks this season. Is he strictly a 4-3 DT or could he be a 3-4 DL? Where do you guys project him to go?
I like Romeus a lot too. Right now, I want DE/OLB in the first and Safety in the 2nd (Safety first if Mays falls, but he won't). Heyward, Romeus, or Hughes would all be really good picks for us. Reshad Jones or Nate Allen would be ideal in the 2nd.
Price is definitely jut a 4-3 DT. He's not athletic enough to play 3-4 end and he's not heavy enough to play nose. I don't know if Brian Price is going to declare early? He may since he's been so dominant this season. edit ...just saw that Price declared. Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy, Mount Cody, Dan Williams, and Jared Odrick should all go before him.
Dude, you don't have to put a title on your posts. I like all of these players as well, but protecting Mark Sanchez has to be at the top of the list, so I'd switch Davis and Williams. If the Jets drafted Williams, we'd have a ton of money invested into receivers/tight ends.
Reshad Jones looked really good for Georgia against A&M, made me want him on the Jets even more. He has great size, can hit pretty hard, and plays the LOS really well. Jones would be a nice compliment to Rhodes.
Can we PLEASE draft Jordan Shipley, WR out of Texas. Yes, I'm basically saying I want our own Wes Welker (except this guy's actually 3 inches taller). I've been impressed every time I've watched him, and we could probably pick him up in the 2nd round.
I think that's a problem people are undervaluing. Ok next year is no cap year but it will come back again and if we are a defense first, run second, pass third kind of team we can't have too much money invested into our passing game.
2nd round is 3-4 DE prospect territory... I'm cool with drafting a WR from rd 3 on... (I know we don't have a rd 3 pick but with trades and stuff you never know)
