He played on good teams w/ good QBs, if he didn't drop so many balls he would have had a much better career.

Walker always amazed me. Playing with one eye?! Fucking outstanding.

In the "Guys I did not See Play" category, Walker is on top of the list with Toon in second by the most narrow of margins.

I was reading through the thread, waiting for someone to mention GS. He was a favorite of mine when I first started to follow the JETS as a front-running seven year old!

absolutely agree. WW dropped a LOT of passes and they always seemed to be particularly brutal because he would be 10 yards behind the DB with a sure TD if he caught it.

He was an amazing athlete, but I think WW gets overrated in our memories by most.

Keyshawn was an ass, but what a playoff game in 1998 against the Jags.

I had to go with Chrebet just because I am a Hofstra Alum, but I loved Walker so I could have easily gone that route. I was never a fan of Toon, and being so young I do not remember enough of Maynard to make him my choice.

Walker is my favorite. Though I like all the names, Toon a close second. Walker was a big play waiting to happen every down. What a player.

With all of Keys BS when Parcells was the HC he played his ass off including become a great blocker.

I appreciate the Chrebet love but frankly he shouldn't be in the argument. The guy would have never started over Maynard, Sauer, Toon, Walker, Moore, Key, Moss, Coles and even Cotchery today is a much better wide out than Chrebet.

I got a little confused here I guess. Thread header says, "Favorite", poll says, "Greatest"

    Favorite: Walker
Greatest: Maynard (before my time, but have to give it to the Super Bowl Champ and his stats are pretty impressive)

The first couple of years of Walker's career he had trouble catching the ball. Walker overcame the dropsies and became a dynamic player, one of the fastest players that ever played WR and was successful. Walker could get unbelievable separation from a DB.

I also loved Toon. Nothing better being in the Meadowlands and hearing the crowd chant..."TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON".

I have to disagree - Chrebet has better career statistics then Toon (and you can use the injury argument for Wayne also), Moss had two productive seasons as a Jet, I think Moore's better days were with the Cards not as a Jet, Keyshawn was never about the Jets it was always me first attitude, and the mention of Cotchery - are you serious?

While there is alot of Chrebet love, I think alot of people here forget about the little things he did, absolute precise route running, money on third down, great hands, and giving 100% all the time. I am not saying he is as good as Wes Welker but give me Welker over Randy Moss any day, although I think they need each other to be successful.

WR is not just about being tall and fast, I think people think the love for Chrebet is because he was the little white boy underdog - while that may be how it started the love is for first down after first down he got on third down when everyone knew thats where the Jets were going.

Greatest receiver has to be Maynard.

Although Al Toon could've been the greatest had he played a full career..........

Yeah, I just noticed that little discrepancy in the poll title.

To be clear, Toon is my "favorite" Jets WR, but Maynard is certainly the greatest.
