George Sauer, and though I was very disappointed when he retired at an early age, I now understand why he didnt like playing pro football anymore; he didnt like seeing guys getting shot up with drugs to play, didn't like the mentality that was creeping into the game, and so he retired from the game.
Winston will be pissed that you didn't include Sauer, who was at least the second most talented Jets receiver ever (he was the best possession receiver the Jets ever had by a very very wide margin). IMO if Toon hadn't gotten hurt he would have ended up being the best Jets receiver ever (Toon was IMO the most talented receiver ever), but unfortunately it didn't turn out that way. I'm a huge Chrebet fan (who isn't?), and I'm certainly not surprised that he's leading the vote so far, but Keyshawn was, like it or not, the superior WR while he was here. I also agree with statjeff that without all the concussions Al Toon might have been the best ever (had to retire at only 29).
Greatest and favorite are 2 different things. The greatest has to be Don Maynard, my favorite was al Toon.
I always liked Rob Moore I agree shouldn't be on the list but 94 he had 78 catches for 1010 yards. He and Adrian Murrell seemed like great pro players that just loved the game. I went with Wayne Chrebet, it's damn near impossible not to love that guy.
Wesley Walker was the most dominant by far when he was healthy and on the field, but he got hurt often and was playing banged up for most of his career. He was also legally blind due to extreme vision problems in one eye. I think if he had played on a better team with a really stable QB situation he'd have gone to the hall of fame.
Toon to me was the best reciever we ever had and one of the 5 greatest players to ever play for the Jets as far as talent, heart, effort and understanding of the position. Terrible shame that two of our most gifted players Namath and Toon were busted up so bad most of their career.
this is going to come down to how old the voter is. I voted for toon because i grew up watching him play.
