That's Schottenheimer's fault too? So basically whenever anything bad happens it's his fault and whenever we do something good it's b/c of callahan or someone else? Schottenheimer is reaching Herm levels on this board.
Ferguson was at fault, of course. They asked Rex in his post game and that is exactly what he said. He was supposed to kick out and pick him up and he didn't do it.
its likely on both brick and sanchez cause he has got to see who is coming at the line and if he has time - change the play. if he cannot change the play brick has to take the edge. jil
This bashing of Shotty is simple amazing. The guy isn't my favorite but he has a rookie QB with no slot reciever or running back who can catch the ball out of the backfield. We are limited but the O was effective yesterday.
that was the call. Have Brick block inside and hit the hot read. Who else does that come from? Unless Sanchez says he checked off to that I'm putting that on Schotty. I will say it was his best called game all season. They started using plays from september that were highly effective.
Don't know if this was touched on but Mark is not calling the protection right now, Mangold is. That was another thing Rex helped the kid with-
im gonna blame schotty for calling a play that would call for leaving freeney unblocked. hot read or not that is not winning football.
http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/12/notebook_in_must-win_situation.html For a change, I wasn't drinking yesterday and know what I heard. Here is a link to back up what I posted. I'm not going to comment on the other source. D'brick was not to blame.
not that its earth shattering news but don is lying. i saw the press confrence and as a follow up one reporter asked if brick was supposed to pinch inside and rex said that he was supposed to.
So getting the rookie QB killed is a good idea now? That's not on Sanchez, it's not on Brick either. Sanchez doesn't have protection calls anymore, and Brick was supposed to block inside, you ALWAYS block the inside man in that situation. If Brick changed the call and went to Freeney Sanchez still would have been hit there, except it would probably have been even more brutal coming from a direct straight line that's a little closer. It's either on Mangold, Schotty or Callahan. Take your pick, it's one of them. Schotty is the coordinator though, the boss always is supposed to take the blame. That's why he gets the bigger paycheck than Callahan. Mangold was responsible for it but I don't know how much he can change.
So what. The O was effective yesterday it did exactly what it needed to do. A missed asignment or read or a bad design big deal. It fits your agenda knock Shotty. I didn't see a torrent of calls to fire Rex after the outright shitty call/bad scheme/missed assignment on the Atlanta TD. I didn't see the calls to fire Rex after Miami slapped the shit out of our D on Monday night football. I didn't see the call to fire Westhoff after our special teams crapped out against the Dolphins and Atlanta. We have a rookie QB, we have a nice running attack but a limited running attack since we don't have a player to take a screen pass or catch the ball out of the backfield. Our run/pass ratio is way more than Baltimore or Atlanta's last year with rookie QB's. I get it Shotty sucks and is to blame for QB sacks, mis reads, Int's, botched field goals, blown D assignments and special teams breakdowns. Why not blame him for the Jets leaving Freeney uncovered and Sanchez not getting rid of the ball even though he was looking right at him uncovered.
i didn't read through this thread, so this might've been discussed. Sanchez said that both sacks were his fault in his post-game press conference
This was the play call: Have Brick block inside, hit the hot read, let Freeney come in free. It's the last part that I have the problem with. Why is Schottenheimer having one of the premier pass rushers come in untouched? Even if Sanchez gets the ball away he is still going to be hit by Freeney. It looked as if Schotty was banking on an extra 15 yards on a roughing penalty as a safety valve in case the pass was incomplete. My question is, 1)why is Schottenheimer risking the health of the franchise QB by not having anyone block Freeney and 2) why did he call that play again after it failed so miserably the first time?
Maybe Sanchez inability to see what was going on pre-snap pissed him off and he figured Sanchez needed a little education? Apparently he didn't get it the first time.
That is a terrible way to coach a team. Ryan should have shot him and ate him on the sidelines if that were true.
Rex apparently loves Shotty and wants him back. Maybe Rex believes a young QB needs to learn in the game without a skirt on?
