Not to say that I like the guy, but you don't think he would get a pass from the CS and FO if he helped coach a team to a SB win? That being said, his HC ticket would be punched at that point.
Shone "The Green Mile" Miles baby. The Jets have seldom had a one two combo , like they did with Lamont and Curtis for a while. I'm glad to see someone who can bang it in there between the tackles and give the opposing defense something to think about.
Oddlly enough, I do not see Greene getting many carries with Leone still on the roster. Schottenheimer seems to forget about him too often and he had enough problems making it onto the field when Leon was healthy.
It's not easy to spread the ball to three backs. That typically gets consolidated to 2. But Greene was a beast today. Definitely had to like what you saw.
I love Greene but I'm really getting concerned w/the Fumbles and Injuries. This guy is my Lamont Jordan damnit!
that was early in the season though. greene is a rookie and when leon was still playing had very little experience, with a year under his belt greene will get his carries and hopefully leon will be revert back to the explosive screen pass guy and kick returner.
Next year: TJ, Greene (25), Leon (28) with TJ and Greene splitting 1st and 2nd downs + Leon getting 3rd down situations 2011: Greene (26), Leon (29), someone (maybe TJ on a vet contract like F. Taylor for the pats) 2012: Greene (27), Leon (30), rookie 2013: Greene (28), rookie in 2nd year, Leon (31) etc... I love this
Jones will probably be gone in 2010 if Washington comes back. He is due a 6 million dollar roster bonus.
It has been discussed at length... I'm thinking he stays since it's an uncapped year, some say he'll be released or traded... who knows right now!
Yea, but what else would you expect him to say, really ? ......."We think he sucks and we don't want the pussy back next season." I don't think so.....
He did play great but every time he was out in the open field I was having panic attacks thinking about the fumble that would be happening soon. Thankfully he held on to the ball so damn tight!! He was very active in yesterdays game.
Few things: 1) Greene's increased role yesterday was by design. Thomas Jones mentioned it in the post game presser. 2) I don't think Jones will be traded. He will probably be back next year, especially with the uncertainty that always comes with a returning RB from a severe leg injury. 3) While I really want Schottenheimer to learn how to call a play-action, people are retarded to think he isn't wanted back next year. We have a rookie QB, lost one of our most potent offensive options, and acquired our top receiver a month into the season, yet we have the league's best rushing attack, and just beat the undefeated Colts (whose defensive starters played much farther through the game than Manning.) The Schotty hate is completely ridiculous at this point.
i'm glad greene is getting serious reps and woodhead is in on 3rd downs. just in case we make a playoff run, it will be great having 2 more backs with proven ability, albiet not much proven just yet. if woodhead and greene had yet to play a snap and leon goes down week 17, now that would suck.
Green has been getting his carries during the 3rd Q of games since the midway point of the season (at least thats when i noticed) TJ comes back in in the 4th q and runs ppl over.
And yet even with that #1 rushing attack, the Jets offense scored one offensive touchdown yesterday and that was against the backups. Best thing the offense did yesterday was make both 2-point conversions.
