The house of horrors, concrete jungle is coming down. I dont care what we call the new stadium. We can call it Not Jets Stadium, or even Giant Stadium again, i just want a new place. Its going to be weird when they have Joe Namath and the rest of the Jets come out for that game to share memories. Joe's only memories are him trying to kiss SK. The Jets sucked in this stadium.
The current - pre-naming rights name - "The New Meadowlands Stadium" My 2 fondest memories are the 41-0 Colts Playoff game (of course) 2003, Monday night vs the Titans. Pennington drove in the last quarter to lift the Jets over the playoff bound Titans with Steve McNair at the wheel. I had a great time, got drunk with my father, and froze my ass off in the mezz with what felt like 50mph winds. I don't know why that game stands out in my mind. Probably cause its a father-son bonding moment with the two of us driving home trashed, laughing our asses off after drinking hot choco w/ Sambuca and Anisette for 4 hours. Security never had a chance of finding those 4 bottles on us the way we were bundled up - hahaha
That 41-0 Playoff game may have been the high point of my life as a Jets fan. As a New Englander, I've probably been to less than 10 Jet games but I was lucky enough to get tickets to that one. That place was so loud, I felt like my ears were bleeding. Leaving that game, you really felt like we had a legit shot at winning it all. That last game of the season against the Packers has to be up there too although I was not at that game.
gotta agree with the original poster of this thread. this stadium has been a house of horros ever since we moved in. There are very few good memories I have. I was at the Dolphins 85 with the Marino-O Brien shootout........memorable win, that's about it. Out side of that, a lot of painful losses dominate my memories. (The fake spike, the bubby Brister leads the Eagles to victory, so many it's tought to list them all) I can't wait until we are out of there (rest assured that we will lose to the Bengals in the finall game there....it's only fitting) good riddance unfortunately, i don't care what the name is, it's still a shared stadium, and you can bet your ass more than a few people on TV.radio etc will call it the New Giants stadium at least a few times
I'm glad we move to a new stadium next season. Not thrilled that we couldn't get our own stadium within' the NEW YORK state lines. There were plenty of places to build a stadium in NYC or Long Island, but it's ashame that politics got in the way. We'll never have a home to call our own. I just hope we can play better in the new place, but that's a stretch with the way Woody runs this team. I wish the Hess family still owned it.
I remember checking out Lisa Guerrero on the sidelines in front of us but she was so bundled up you couldn't see much.
I wish the built it up in Orange County, plenty of room up there. The commons is already a big tourist spot and it would've been a hell of a lot cheaper.
Nah - Rt 3. East Rutherford to Lyndhurst (at the time) is only a couple miles. Besides - had my sister's FOP card n' shield in the truck!
oh ok, I guess that woulda made everything ok if you woulda killed someone... At least everyone got home safe but not really the smartest thing to do.
I hate the Meadowlands so much! We are second class citizens to the Giants. At least the LA Clippers play in LA. I hope I will live to see the Jets play in their own stadium in New York. (Luckily I am 18)
Doubt JetBlue. Not with Continental being the major hub in that area. Besides, air travel companies have been hit hard (just like everyone else).
