As someone who dabbles in the dark arts now and then, I smell an SOJ setup.

    - Every domino that needed to fall in the early games fell
    - The Jets played it close against the best team in the NFL
    - The Colts pull their starters...we win
    - Next week is a win-and-your-in on national TV game

As an SOJ historian, this has all the earmarks of a disaster for the ages. While I haven't been hellbent on the playoffs this year.....when it is within your grasp with one game to play, you've got to put it away. This year we've seen the inexplicable Buffalo loss (rushing for 300 yards and 5 INTs), the meltdown in Miami, the special teams implosion in Jets-Miami Part Deux, the Jacksonville collapse, and the how-not-to-kick-a-FG clinic against Atlanta. To add one more calamity next week against a Bengals team that has nothing to play for will put this season into legendary SOJ status.

However, all of this year's nightmares can be washed away with a win next week. I don't expect us to make a serious run in the playoffs, but a post-season appearance will do a lot of good for both Ryan and Sanchez. The team needs it and the long suffering fans need it.

Now is the time to put a stake in the heart of the 2009 Same Old Jets. I'm sure they'll return from the dead at some point, but it is time put them into hibernation. Give us something to hold on to until next year. Make it so!

I used to love when Herm would riff on SOJ. Once, he even worked in SOTBB into it. Talked about walking into Tampa with Tony Dungy and putting on "those popsicle suits." Man, I miss his speechifying.

If the jets are simply outplayed it's not SOJ. If beyond odd shit goes on, have at it.

Let's get the win next week.

If we SOJ against the Bungles, the biggest failchize in the NFL, we are the lowest of the low of NFL teams.

Seriously if we outfail the Bungles, its hopeless.

Dude, I'm changing it to Failchez, and making it the new nickname for our starting QB.

The one reason I think we might win is because the fanbase is so convinced we won't. Not that there isn't genuine hope, but our collective guard is up, I feel.

I know, but I like the way it sounds when I wish to express displeasure.
