Chad had one of the best OL's in the league throughout his stay.(cept probably his final yr) O'Brien ran for his life. as far as who gets the nod, ehh who cares. thats debatable and theres enough agony with the present day jets to go venturing for more disappointment in the past
I think I give the win in OT to Pennington, but not by much. Overall, Chad's teams were probably better thus the edge in the playoffs. The last 3 or 4 years O'Brien was around were on some really pitiful teams. Chad had better intangibles and was a better leader. O'Brien was a much better thrower. Chad could never have won a game like O'Brien did in '86 against the Dolphins. Interesting, but neither O'Brien or Pennington threw a lot of interceptions in their career. Both were smart, cerbral players.
Give Kenny o' the line Chad behind and things would be different. My leanings are towards O'Brien, but I can see people's arguments both ways........
This is what we have to debate as jets fans, who was better Kenny O'Brien or Chad Pennington. Thats sad. I want a real QB!!
Kenny O was a lot more fun to watch, but Chad was more successful, so I'd say he had the better career. Both were unceremoniously dumped for ragingly overrated over the hill marquis name QBs who blew.
For those who are saying Vinny green balls, the originally post said career as a Jet. Vinny had one great season as the Jets starting QB, and two mediocre ones. That hardly makes a career. But I appreciate the 1998 season for what it was. Between Chad and Kenny - I would have to say that Chad had the better career as a Jet. Although I was always a big O'Brien supporter, and felt sorry for the beating he took playing for the gang green.
Vinnie was more successful in one season in his career with the Jets than either Chad or Ken were in any any of their seasons with the Jets. Vinnie & The Jets were 30 minutes away from the Super Bowl. Thats much better than Chad or Ken ever did. All hail Vinnie !!! I think Richard Todd has been underrated as well. He was a pretty good QB and almost got the Jets to the SB as well.
And that one year was far better than Losington or O'fukko ever had. Not much to be said about their careers.
