i know that Sanchez NOT starting ist an option .....i really wish they would install maybe 10 wildcat plays for BS...so we could have a change of pace like Miami...and maybe take some pressure off Sanchez
this was what i was saying during the falcons game. give BS the ball for a series or two. this sort of offense where we can't have INTs was appropriate for the weather that we had. i don't think i saw any run go for less than 7 yards.
I would love the Wildcat if Brad Smith once, JUST ONCE, would throw the fucking ball. He has had his fair share of direct snaps, reverses, etc. and he hasn't throw the ball once. Its not like he didn't QB in college.... This would add an entirely new dimension to our very one dimensional offense.
Didn't Brad Smith have a successful pass off a fake punt? I'm forgetting who it was against? (Tampa?)
I was thinking about that 3rd and goal on the 2 against Atlanta, and I'm wondering why the fuck we opted for the TJ run and then a field goal. If we have 2 chances to get two yards, why wouldn't we put Brad Smith under center and have him fuckin sneak that shit twice? The chances of them stopping a QB sneak twice is very slim, and even if they did, they would start their drive on their own 1 yard line. I know hindsight is always 20/20, but I had assumed that Rex/Schotty would have run the sneaks even before they decided otherwise.
Yeah, seriously. The guy has an arm and with Sanchez struggling...this would make defenses more awake to his air attack and open doors for his running plays.
If the Jets wanted him to throw on a regular basis, they would have made him a QB. I do not think he gets eoungh reps to make throwing the ball a viable option. Let's face it, Sanchez needs all the practice he can get, whether or not it translates into success on Sunday's at this point. We have basically put all of the eggs on the Sanchez cart, so we have to play him. Furthermore, if Smith is successful on a couple of drives do you take him out for Sanchez or leave him in.... A real expansion of his role would probably create more problems than it would fix.
I think that Brad Smith has thrown exactly once in this formation, and that was the first year he came onboard. There isn't much of a surprise when he lines up in the 'cat and runs the ball.
I love it. While it's a great idea, can you imagine this board on Monday morning if we run 10 Wildcat plays? Even if they all worked this board would be lit up the tree in my living with "cutesy does it again" posts. Personally, I'd love to see it. And I agree with the sentiment that he needs to throw it once or twice out of this package. Even a busted pass play puts the thought in opposing defenses' minds.
I wouldn't mind either but like a poster above said he needs to pitch it out or throw it. Every time they run that same play Woodhead is running 5 yards off him and not once did he pitch him the ball, a little change would go a long way. Pretty funny though, not so gimmicky now?? lol
I thought they were going to do it more than they did against Atlanta, and against Indianapolis, I would find as many creative plays to move the ball. Nobody gets big plays on the Colts' D, so let's keep them off balance. And try not to have Sanchez lose us the game.
Call it crazy but i have reason to believe that Brad Smith is our best playmaker. With Leon out anyway. More plays need to be drawn up for this guy.
Actually he is 2 for 4 in his career. He had an 18 yard completion on the last play hail mary lateral play vs. Miami last year.
The problem is Schotty's love affair with Smith. Keller, Cotch, Edwards and Sanchez have suffered in the name of getting Smith involved. Rookie QB + #1 rush offense keep it simple.
