Just curious...if the Jets took a couple of roughing-the-passer penalties early and really pounded Manning into the turf, how long do you think Jim Caldwell would risk a season-ending injury to PM against a desperate team ?

    Food for thought.

Kind of cheap in my eyes. Play the game.

The Jets should use the Ghost for this-

The Colts would not expect him to even move and he is very expendable.

He should just dropkick Peyton in the chest after the whistle.

I wouldn't call it cheap shotting per se. If we just go out there and blitz a lot and the players hit him no matter what then this might work. If it draws a penalty or two then fine. As long as it isn't egregious, we can get away with it. It may not work though, and it's also very possible they they are good enough to adjust and stuff our blitzes.

The OP's mention of what amounts to intentionally seeking to rough the passer is over the top and would probably lead to fines. Not to mention, how many 15 yard penalties would make it worth getting Manning out of there? I doubt Indy has him backed up by a slug at Qb.

On the other hand, it would be completely fair to blitz the crap out of him - nothing wrong with letting the Indy CS know there's a potentially big cost to going for the win with Manning in there.

Pretty shitty. How would you like it if some team decided to take cheap shots at Sanchez?

I have no problem with blitzing him and hitting him legally, but cheap shots are for dirt bags.

    That's what I mean....no difference.

I'm not saying DELIBERATELY hurt Manning, but let Caldwell know that our blitzers might be a bit 'reckless' today.

We don't need to cheap shot him, we do need to hit him early and often.

His backup is Curtis Painter from Purdue-

With 0 experience, I'd love to see him in there.

I cannot confirm this BUT ... someone told me that PTI had a segment saying that the Jets intentionally went for Michael Turner's ankles in last week's game to take him out of the game.

    Did anyone else hear this?

There's a huge difference between targeting an injured area during a routine tackle and intentionally taking a cheap shot. A cheap shot by definition would be outside the bounds of a normal play.

Turner said he thought jim Leonhard went after his leg but how can you expect a little guy like Leonhard to tackle Turner anywhere but low?

Especially with a cast on the one hand-

He has to go low, he can't really wrap him up-

Agreed, but there is also nothing wrong with targeting a specific area when making a routine tackle. It happens all the time.

A cheap shot is competely and totally inappropriate. If we have to resort to that to win the game then the Jets should not take the field.

This Jets' fan does not agree with intentionally trying to hurt another player.......unless its Tom Brady. Seriously, horrible thread or at the very least bad thread title, it just puts us all in bad light.
