That'sthe difference between the Yankees and Mets, (aside form the 25 more WS Championships). The guys in the Bronx figure out creative ways to get better every year while the Mets try to fill holes with over the hill guys. There is no reason the Mets couldn't come up with a package for Granderson or why they didn't get in on the Halladay trade.
Nats to sign Marquis. http://masnsports.com/1digitaria/mt...d=3&tag=jason marquis&limit=20&IncludeBlogs=3 Good. Now the Mets can't make a bad decision to give this guy 3 years and 20M.
That's it....I'd take Marquis over Redding (thank god he's gone) or one of the other jokes we threw out there. It's not my money so I don't care how much they pay a guy but then years alays concern me.
same here..from the reports i'm reading, the mets only wanted marquis for one year but he ended up signing for two for around 7.5 mil/yr, which isn't that bad at all....if we still end up with harang and one of sheets/garland and/or bedard, i'll be happy.
the yanks just traded for javy vazquez. no way the braves would have traded him to us, but i would have loved to add him to the rotation.
I think the Mets need Sheets and one of the rest. Sheets is the only one of them that has #2 potential and has shown it in the big leagues. He is a injury gamble but if they get two of those guys they have some insurance if sheets does not come back to his potential and So Perez can sit in extended spring training until someone gets hurt!
Lol, thing is, I'm willing to wait to see what moves we make till I pass judgement on whether or not Omar and the Mets have had a successful offseason, but goddamn, it just seems like we're doing NOTHING right now, and signing all these scrubs just seems to accentuate the notion that we really aren't doing jack shit.
One of the Mets' major problems last year was lack of depth, specifically pitching depth. While I would also like to see the make a splash, signing guys like Dickey and the Japanese guy are relatively good, cheap depth building moves. I don't have a problem with the Dickey signing.
I understand that, but I'm hoping that these aren't the only signings we make. Last thing I wanna see is these 'depth' signings get significant chunks of playing time, because last year we did in fact have a bunch of guys starting that weren't anywhere near starting calibre.
