So, not sure if this was mentioned in earlier threads but this sure makes me feel confident in our playoff choices. After leaving the game yesterday freezing, cursing and writing off the season, I played with the Yahoo! playoff scenario generator and realized this. If you use the Winning % to set wins by (which is the first option and makes the most sense) and then set the Jet's 2 games to Wins, we're in. Prior to this week to get the Jets in this required not only the Jet's winning 3 games, but also help from other teams. If all things go as expected (besides 2 upset Jet wins) we're in and play in Foxboro. I know its a long shot, but any given sunday... :jets: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/playoffscenario?algorithm=custom&14=41015155&15=51001441&16=55105515
I should have stuck with my original post - sorry for the confusion and thanks for the correction. There are other scenerios but above is the most likely
We need Miami to lose to Houston or Pitt and then would only need 2/3 favorites Pats,Pitt,Eagles to beat Jags,Ravens,Broncos. Miami has to lose one game no matter what cause they are in the division with us and they will get to match up with the other teams before we do. So lets say Jags,Ravens, and Broncos all lose even though we would have the tiebreaker over all of them we would not get in cause Miami knocked us out of consideration.
The yahoo scenarios also work out for the Jets if you use defensive rank as the determining factor. What the hell, gives me something to root for for one more week.
Two things I take out of this thread: 1) If we had won yesterday we would be looking pretty damn good right now. 2) Ain't over till it's over. We got at least one more week of important football.a
I'm keeping my hopes as low as possible for a playoff run, that way I won't be disappointed regardless of the outcome.
So if Denver loses to Philly and we win out we are in. I think that's the best shot right there, and and am now smiling again, somebody tell Rex this please.
Not quite. You'd also need: MIA lose 1 and one of: JAX lose 1 BAL lose 1 CIN lose to KC and BAL win both
Yeah I'm already counting on at least 1 Miami loss. Baltimore is the 5th seed, so they can do whatever. If we win out we'll have a better conference record then Denver and we are in. NE is going to beat the Jags too.
If balitmore, jax and miami lose 1 and denver wins out we are the 6th seed denver is the 5th seed If Denver, jax and miami lose 1 and Baltimore wins out we are the 6th seed, baltimore is the 5th seed. If Baltimore, Denver and Miami lose 1 game and Jax wins out, we are the 6th seed and jacksonville is the 5th seed If Miami, baltimore, jacksonville and denver all lose 1 game.. We are the 5th seed and baltimore is the 6th seed. Those are our playoff scenarios... Root for Pitt, Philly, NE (I know i know) and Houston this week. Pittsburgh and NE are our biggest fans right now. NE plays Jax and Pitt plays both Miami and balt...
Not necessarily. It's the NFL. What people are trying to say is that we need a heck of a lot more than one thing to happen to make the playoffs.
I'm all for optimism, but we are done, as we deserve to be. And that's OK. If we looked at this point from the beginning of the year and knew we'd be 8-8 or anywhere close to it, many people would have expected that. The frustrating part is the build-up and let down of it. Maybe we can make a few personnel changes and keep the defense relatively intact and see about next year. Sooner or later our luck will turn around.........I hope.
There are a couple of other scenarios: Baltimore wins out, CIN loses to KC can be substituted for any of the BAL loses 1 game scenarios. MIA wins out, JAX loses 1 game, BAL loses 2 games, DEN loses 2 games, TEN loses 1 game causes MIA to be the 5th seed and us the 6th seed. Seriously, there are so many ways for us to get in. Many of them very, very probable. Rooting guide: HOU over MIA NE over JAX PIT over BAL PHI over DEN SD over TEN The first 3 can happen before kickoff, in which case we have control over our own destiny.
We can still get on a run. Sanchez has to start clicking. Maybe now with the season more or less over, as you said, they'll let him off the leash, get rid of the dumb code system, and trust him.
All this BS talk.... Ladies the game against the undefeated Colts will be over in the 1st/2nd quarter..... They could spot us 21. And we still won't beat them. See we have this QB name Sanchez who throws 2.5 picks per game... Wake the fuck up... The prayer method doesn't work
