Get over yourself. This is entertainment. Most engaged fans spend hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars following the team of their choice. If they want to get upset by a poor performance that almost killed post season chances, they have the right. The sport wouldn't exist if people weren't passionate about it
I've been going for 20+ years and love going to the games. For me I never see what gives me the right to scream you suck or asshole at a guy that is trying is hardest and not intentionally losing the game. It's like you when your bagging groceries but you accidentally put the eggs in the bottom of the bag. Does every customer in line boo and throw shit at you? They're paying your salary too. It doesn't matter Jet fans would find something to bitch about even if we won the SB. I could hear it now, Oh what a shitty call there at the end, why the fuck was he taking a knee?
Big difference between a board and home versus being at a game. I agree with you on game day behavior. Just for the record - I honestly believe we win the next two - get in the playoffs and beat NE in Foxboro. Tone will be different that week.
Bro, check a page or so back to CrossRhodes25 post on the playoff scenario--I thought he put it best Need to win out + have Mia and Jack lose a game apiece Plus one of the 3 things to happen--Denver loses 1 or Balt loses 1 or Cincy loses both (with Balt winning both)
Technically, that's not exactly right. Jacksonville can win out, we can win out and have MIA, DEN and BAL lose a game each and we'd be in. We don't need Jacksonville to lose, though it'd be nice if they did. We don't even need MIA to lose if DEN and BAL both lose 2 and JAX lose 1. There are a ton of ways to get in.
Can someone someone please exaplain to me how we make the playoffs if Baltimore or Denver both only lose 1 game? I for some reason thought it was if they lost 2 game (one of the teams) I would appreaciate it.. thanks
Because the Jets lost to an NFC team the tiebreakers change. If we win out and Denver and the Ravens lose one more game we are tied in conference record and have them both in common games cause we theoretically beat the colts and Bengals.
In this scenerio Baltimore has to lose to Pittsburgh. Doesn't work if Baltimore beats Pitt and loses to Oak
I thought for a wildcard it went division tie breaker and then conference.. so doesnt the jets (2-4) lose to the ravens and broncos bc they had a better division tiebreaker?
When looking at the wild card you first break division tiebreaker in own division. That's why we need Miami to lose a game cause we dont have tiebreaker over them. Once we are looking at teams in different division's it goes 1) Face to Face 2) Conference record 3)common games
That explains alot, thank you. If Baltimore and denver lose 1 game, they will have a 7-5 conference record like us.. Then it comes down to common games and we hold the edge... So.. Denver has to lose 1 game Balt has to lose 1 game and Miami has to lose 1 game... then we are in?
Baltimore has to lose to Pitt week 15 to fall behind us in a tiebreaker scenerio. Their week 16 game is against Oak and is not a division game
God you are needed here rookie. Now please pm me what your drinking or smoking. Oh.... and welcome to the TGG.
Been drinking and smoking anything I can find since around 4pm yesterday. Took until around 3am or so to begin seeing these visions.
if you don't understand the social and psychological difference between the motivation of watching bagging groceries and sports, nevertheless the basic difference between those two completely different jobs, you probably shouldn't be in the discussion. either it is appropriate to be emotionally involved in the events of a sports match and voice your emotions about it, which means both cheering or booing (and the more vile derivative of screaming obscenities), or it isn't. by your logic, if it isn't okay to boo it isn't okay to cheer, because you have no right to voice your opinion on the performance on the field. do you actually believe that, or are you hypocritical about how you can voice your opinion so that it is only right to do so when you agree with it?
Just want to make sure everyone realizes that what some poster said about us needing Denver or Baltimore to lose both is 100% bogus. Division record only comes into play in intra-division ties. A tie with Baltimore would be inter-division, which means it goes by conference record. A loss to Oakland is a conference loss, and would mean we both have a 7-5 conference record (assuming we win out). It would then go to common games, where we would have the advantage.
Sanchez: Coach, it says right here we can still make the playoffs, see? Ryan: "Just STFU, shave the mustache and stop throwing interceptions already!"
