Acording to Cimini a couple weeks the O'Connell trade was a conditional 2011 pick.

    PACE - LB
    SCOTT - LB
    HARRIS - LB
THOMAS - LB < Shawne Merriman (POSSIBLE DRAFT SPOT)
DOUGLAS - DE < PEPPERS - DE (POSSIBLE DRAFT SPOT) JETS should fill this spot with J. PEPPERS (FA)
    ELLIS - DE < R. SEYMOUR
JENKINS - NT (POSSIBLE DRAFT SPOT)
SHEPPARD - CB need to stay healthy (POSSIBLE DRAFT SPOT)
RHODES - FS need to be consistant/aggressive (POSSIBLE DRAFT SPOT) I'm looking for a Troy Polamalu type not an Ed Reed type
LEONARD - SS (POSSIBLE DRAFT SPOT)
    REVIS* - CB

    possible jets free agents

    Kellen Clemens - QB
    Drew Coleman - CB
    Marques Douglas- DE
    Braylon Edwards - WR (keep)
    Jay Feely - K (keep)
    Ryan Fowler - ILB
    Howard Green - DT
    Ben Hartsock - TE
    Wayne Hunter - OL
    James Ihedigbo - S (keep)
    Larry Izzo - ILB
    Marques Murrell - DE
    Tony Richardson - FB
    Eric Smith - S (50/50)
    Brad Smith - WR
    Leon Washington - RB (keep)
    Wallace Wright - WR

Draft philosophy - (1st) Best player on the board (2nd) Need

I think that Peppers will be very sought after and it would be prohibited:jets: to doubtful if the jets could afford him, still would be a great add. R. Seymour and S. Merriman are entirely doable maybe can even get these two at market value.

All and all the Free agent and rookie 2010 classes have the potential to be very deep.

This is all new to me so bear with the rookie!

Its nice to see you took the time to post this but you must be bonkers to think that we can afford/ Merriman and Seymour will be available at face value.

I think Merriman isnt as good as we thought he was. Since he got nabbed with using steroids he hasn't been as good. (this could have possibly been from his injury last year though as well)

Seymour is Old we need young blood in here. Might as well keep Ellis if your only going to exchange him with seymour... this isnt madden.

As far as your free agent list goes theres alot of guys on that list that we will be keeping that you havent marked off.

    Wayne Hunter
    Marques Murrell
I think Tony Richardson is staying another year
We are going to be keeping brad smith or Wallace Wright (im guessing the latter)

and for some reason call me crazy I think we will keep Drew Coleman. ANd I actually almost want us to for some reason. He hasn't played horrible

    On another note:
No one is going to give you a 2nd and a 4th for Jenkins so get out of your dream world. IMO we trade Kerry Rhodes and not for a conditional pick. This is for two reasons.
    1) If we traded Kerry for a conditional pick we wouldn't get that high of a pick this year, and this is going to be a great first two rounds.

    2) We all know Kerry he is a scum bag, who knows how hard he will play/ how much the other coach will play him, limiting our draft pick.

Player injuries tend to affect the market value of that player, atleast that's what I thought. How much is Leon Washington worth now that he's had an injury?

Shawne Merriman, San Diego Chargers (26)
With his first two sacks since returning from injury coming in week 8, Merriman doesn?t seem to be exactly the same player he was prior to his injury, which is to be somewhat expected. He lacks the explosiveness he had in the past, but some of that should return after this offseason as it continues to heal. The Chargers defense has been a large liability so it becomes a question whether or not the team wants to even commit that much money to a player who has been pretty unproductive. What the Chargers do with Merriman will be a decision based on the ultimate risk-reward analysis, as well as a decision reflecting which of their many free agents they choose to and are able to retain. Remember that the team also drafted pass rusher Larry English in the first round last year. The best guess is that the Chargers will place a franchise tag on Merriman, so as to not commit a long-term deal, but also not to allow the former All-Pro to just walk away.

Yeah he's old, Young blood=development which some seem to have no patience for. ie. Vernon Gholston.

Seymour has been coined one of the best defensive linemen of the decade and made himself a fixture in Honolulu prior to the last two seasons, including one curtailed by injury. Seymour has the ability and experience of playing 4-3 DT and 3-4 DE. He excels in run defense, but also has the ability to apply pressure and collapse the pocket. Moving to Oakland, the defensive line has been injected with a burst of energy and has performed pretty well overall. Seymour didn?t seem too excited about being blindsided in a trade to Oakland and I?d be surprised to see him make a full-time switch to a losing team from a winning organization like the Patriots.

    It's not a prediction.... it's an opinion.

My post mentioned nothing about trades.

    Someones defensive.....

I'm not going to go into arguing about Merriman and Seymour cuz thats your opinion. But both of those players are going to get a huge contract that we really can't afford nor do we need.

Like we both said Seymour is old and Merriman is injured. Do we want to have another Faneca situation?

The Rhodes quote wasn't directed towards you that was towards previous posters

We got Jenkins for a 3rd and 5th when he was 2 years younger and had less injuries under his belt (back + knee). I don't see us trading him away at a higher value.
