The guy is 30 starts removed from being under center as a HS QB... He makes some really nice throws. A better OC would get him in rhythm by expanding the field horizontally, and chipping at the flats and bringing quick slants inside, off play action early...
Rubbish. Sanchez needs to get better at some things, sure, but he led the O to 16 points if the three FGs (and they were all easy ones, no 56 yarders or other such nonsense) are converted. He's not on the field for those. That's enough to win this game twice over. Once again the team had a 4th quarter lead and gave it up. It's now a habit and it has to be broken.
Clemens lost this fucking game for us, the loser. I can live with marks rookie year. P manning sucked his first year too. They just need to get Mark into the right off-season workout and he will be ready to go next year. Clemens is a big time loser and I wish we were on the road on sunday, so we could have left his ass there. The guys a bad luck charm. We are so close to something big here, I hate all the panic.
That two minute drill he ran at the end of the first half was great. Only to see yet another missed FG. Plus he had one nice play where he stepped up in the pocket to avoid a rush by Abraham and had a nice 15 yard pass for a first down on third down and long. It was a wow moment for me as he looked like a seasoned vet on a critical third down. I see little things that have me looking to the future with this guy. This offseason will be interesting.
Clemens dropped the snap on a chip shot of a FG. IMO thats the same as a TO...If he would've got that snap down atleast the Jets would've have a chance in OT.
I think we need to have different routes being run, we rarely throw slants, every now and then we do, but it seems were trying to make longer competitions down the field when the staff and Sanchez aren't set on trying to get quick passes, slants, curling routes out routes all those short passing plays you don't see them, passes like that get the offense in rhythm, all the passes Sanchez seem to throw are always forced down the field, something isn't working its hard to point fingers, but a lot of work has to be done in the offseason to figure out the offense, the defense is there but the offense has made no progression, it prob would of been best if we had a veteran QB to play for a year and have Sanchez watch, but it's too late now we can't stop what we started, argh it's really tough to say what this Franchise is getting into, if Sanchez can't be the franchise QB and learn to cut down on mistakes and move the chains were royally fucked for the next 5 years and we won't have a Rex Ryan to coach the team cause we all know his ass will get fired for the offense / ST woes =/
If you consider 'mistake free football' throwing the ball into the stands instead of into the hands of a wide open Jerricho Cotchery in the endzone, then I guess you would be right. Clemens may have thrown a pick or two if the ball hadn't been 15 feet above the head of his intended receivers. Sanchez is going to make mistakes. He's a rookie. The number of them is disappointing, but you look at many good quarterbacks in their rookie season and you will see the same thing. Once managing an NFL huddle becomes more instinctive and automatic for him, I think things will fall into place for him and he can become deadly. That pass to Edwards was excellent, he made 2 strong progressions before he even focused on Edwards in that play. He's got the goods, now we have to find out how tough he is upstairs.
You're Sanchez hating is bordering on insanity now. He lead the offense to 3 "automatic" FG distances. I guess in your world that constitutes an "excuse" because he didn't Mike Vick all of those drives and run 90 yards for TDs...sure we MIGHT have scored more points without those INTs, we'll never know. I didn't see any of those picks come when we were within scoring range though, so I'm not sure how those cost us the game. No, you shouldn't expect perfection from all phases of the game, but are you seriously trying to say that 0% is "acceptable" from the FG unit? Hell, 66.7% on FGs yesterday would have won us the game, hardly a demand of perfection There are games where you legitimately can put the blame on Sanchez, but to say that he was the KEY reason yesterday....wtf?
That kind of proves the point - if the rest of the team doesn't play a near perfect game, we lose, because our QB can't get it done. I know Aikman and Manning had tough first seasons, but they had games where you saw the potential, where they gave you flashes of what they became. This kid hasn't shown that. And, not for nothing, in their first seasons, neither Aikman or Manning had the O line and defense this kid has. I'm hoping in these last 2 games they let this kid play and that he can finally show us some glimpse of being worth the 50 million.
This is a similar situation to last season, where the playcalling became erratic and confusing and everyone wanted to scapegoat Mangini for micromanaging. Now the playcalling has become predictable and ineffective and you want to put the blame on Rex for micromanaging after he he started with a hands-off-the-offense approach and it resulted in the rookie QB throwing a ton of interceptions in... erratic and confusing gameplans on the offense. At some point, Schotty runs out of scapegoats. He's drawing up the gameplans even if Rex is telling him what type of attacks are acceptable. A genius is able to design an effective attack within the parameters given. A mediocre mind makes excuses about the parameters.
Again, how exactly is expecting your FG unit to execute 2 out of 3 from WITHIN 40 yards a demand of perfection? As for flashes, how about that second Miami game? Or the 2nd half of Jax? I'd say I saw flashes there. He's been a goat plenty of times this year, I have no problem saying that. But why do some folks on the other side refuse to admit that's he's looked great at times as well?
Did Manning have a dominating Defense and a great run game his Rookie Year? I think not, the defense despite it's errors at end of games is still a Superbowl defense no doubt about it, ST and Offense however pretty shitty...
First off, I think Sanchez deserves plenty of blame for yesterdays loss. That said, I really disagree with you here. There is a huge difference between "near perfect" and missing 3 out of 3 chip shot FG's. You HAVE to hit at least 1 of 3. 0% on three attempts is piss poor. I also think Sanchez has definitely showed us signs of a very good QB this season. Just thinking about yesterdays game off the top of my head, which was a bad one for him, the drive before the first half was excellent and that TD pass was a thing of beauty - perfectly thrown. He's also shown some excellent footwork, ability to extend plays, good accuracy and poise with the game on the line (at times). To me his biggest issue is consistency.
I dont hate Sanchize. I just recognize that he isn't very good. Lets be honest, has he shown any improvment from week 1...in ANY aspect of his game (please enlighten me if he has)? And we are not playing great defenses week in and week out. Its time for the Sanchize homers to get real. The guy needs to improve a LOT or sit on the bench.
this WAS a year of "sacrifice" looking back.....theres no way we dont make playoffs with a qb who throws 10 or less picks...... Rex denied that this season would be (at the beginning of the season) ...but it was QB coach/OC/HC let Sanchez off the leash way too soon.
