I hear you, but I've been there and done that. Sat through it all my friend. But as you admit yourself, with each passing year of frustration, you feel a bit differently. The last few years, especially when sitting out in the cold now means my wife and I miss a day with our kids, I've chosen to sit it out. Oh, and I have given away MANY a game ticket. I never said my seats were empty yesterday, my cousin had them ahead of time - not sure if she even made it though, with the snow and all.

Are you kidding me? Watch some games. How many times does that actually happen? It does happen, but not enough to affect many, if any, outcomes. And, for the record, making noise on third down at big game is expected, agreed. Making noise at a crappy game against a mediocre opponent when your team sucks playing in the cold and snow? That's for cheerleaders, not fans. Actually, what am I talking about, at least cheerleaders get PAID for their time!

Call me what'd like, half a fan, whatever. I've had Lyle Alzado take a bow toward me as I heckled him on the sideline. Saw O'Brien to Walker in OT to beat Marino. Was 30 feet from the fake spike and watched a Jumbo touchdown scored in front of me after midnight on a Monday night. I hoped that Byrd would get up and walk off the field. I've been there for all of it.

Having said all that, I'm also a SMART fan. I put myself over the team I root for. I know, how crazy!

I know the folks on this board deserve a winner but seeing that pathetic display at the game I'm not sure our fanbase deserves a winner.

Where were we choking? We had won 3 straight and were in the thick of the playoff race and we still couldn't fill that place up halfway.

We've had a good franchise since 1997, sure we've had a few down years but we have been competitive in most seasons. This is nothing like the stretch from '87-'96 where we were consistently one of the worst teams in the league. We are a team on the rise w/ a rookie HC and rookie QB, we are/were in the playoff race w/ a big game in late December and we didn't show up as a fanbase.

A "smart" fan knows that when the opponent is driving for a winning score to get loud and try to disrupt their communication and focus. Maybe create a chance for them to get a false start penalty, or get it loud enough where the OL can't communicate with each other.

I watch plenty of games and know that this doesn't actually happen a lot at Jets games because we have "fans" like you there.....sometimes

Heh heh. Then have fun my friend. Spend your money, yell and curse your head off, whatever makes you happy. Like I said, you really should just grab some pom-poms and learn some dance moves and at least get paid for your loyalty. I cheer for impressive athletic ability and play, not to urge grown men on. If the Jets need you guys to get them pumped up and creat false starts, etc., then they aren't worth cheering for. You really think the fans in NE have anything to do with the teams success? The fans were there before Bill and Brady, remember?

I was there but I live real close and happened to be up at 4 am so I got my shoveling done. My friends who tailgate with us came down from the Albany area--they didn't get snow but they're also used to getting it so they weren't afraid to make the trip, they were there before me. I thought the fans who were there made a lot of noise when it was needed, it wasn't quiet. We had a good tailgate and I was buzzing and loud by game time. One more batted pass and it would have been a great day all around, I love the cold. Man, was my stomach sick by late last night, though.

For the people who couldn't/didn't show, that's up to them. Fans who don't buy tickets though have nothing to say about it, show up if you don't like it. You want to call people out for not being able to get through a snowstorm, what's your excuse then? Jackasses.

I don't argue trivial things like temperature just important things like is herm a good coach or not:lol:

The fans in NE are much better now than they were 15-20 years ago. They actually fill the Stadium and they are loud. That absolutely makes a difference. Teams can still overcome all of that but any little advantage a team can create helps.

Yes you are and we are all bad parents for torturing our kids by making them Jet fans- at least my Son(and the one on the way) will grow up Yankee fans.:jets:

My point exactly though! They now have an energized fan base because they field a competetive, exciting team, championship caliber team. Remember the Colts and Jax playoff games? When the Jets give fans something to yell about, they do!

Winning regularly has a lot to do with it. People like me are going to show up most of the time anyway, but if you want a packed, loud house in the cold you better be on top or near the top of the league. In 1985 and 1998 our place was as full and loud at the end of the year as it was in the beginning, it's no coincidence that those were also our best two seasons since moving to the Meadowlands.

They hadn't won anything in 2001 when they hosted oakland in a snowstorm, or late in December but they were getting great crowds despite the weather.

Our fanbase should be as hungry as the NE fanbase was prior to winning all those titles and having a game in december w/ seriosu playoff implictaions should have guaranteed a great crowd no matter what the weather.

But there should be a hunger for a winner, I understand if the team stinks but this was a HUGE game and we had half the building empty.

I was at the game. I am a season ticket holder for 29 years. Our fan base sucks ass, what a disgrace yesterday's turnout was. You could have came at Noon pussies, the roads were fine. Way to support your team girls. And I know they continually dissapoint, but if you can't take it, get out... that's right you, did next year. Yeah, 50k fans in a 80K stadium. Should be fun

Yeah, me and thousands others did get out. Your wishes come true next year when there will be zero home field advantage. You're calling the wrong people girls though - like I said before, if you drove through snow and ice to get there yesterday and screamed your head off for players who are inept and unmotivated, you at least should have been holding pom-poms and got paid for it!

In what world is being a blindly enthusiastic cheerleader, screaming for big, strong men, manly?

As long as this organization continues to put a crap product on the field and insults it's fans (my seats will now cost some sucker or corporation $10,000 per ticket for PSLs), you'll be enjoying a beautiful, very quiet, new stadium.
