Our running game sucked today and was the key problem. Our passing game put the points on the board. The running game was putrid, putrid. What game were you watching. Not to mention Fanecca imploded.
I will say this again, I believe you run the ball to set-up the pass. The pass gets you the big play which is usually the difference in the game. We are 7-7 with a leading rushing attack...doesn't that signify something? I hope Rex will realize that fact. Who are the top passing teams in the league...they are probably leading their division or are in the playoff hunt. Without a solid passing attack you lose. Opposing defenses will stack the line and take their chances on the back side of their defense because they know we can't throw on a consistent basis. Sometimes we throw well, but not consistently. And this is what sorry teams bank on. By the way, we lose to those sorry teams then post our frustration on this board. Remember last year when we had Brett Favre. Then he got injured and could not throw the ball effectively. How did that work out for us? NFL teams know this that is why we pay these college QBs all the money.

We ran an O today designed to run on a stacked box. Curtis Martin had his single best year when Pennington went down with a torn rotator and teams stacked the box. We went with a two wide set and matched up. We did that today and couldn't run worth shit. We got the big play out of the pass and we got the FG attempts we needed to ice this game.
to make things sadder we lose the turnover battle 3-0 and still were a play away from winning the game. shows how good the rest of the team plays.
Our passing attack got us a lead that held up all game. The run game couldn't control the game when it counted the D folded like a cheap suit on a play that everyone on both sides knew where the ball was going. You want to kill Sanchez but you want to suck off the D who lost the game on a blown coverage.
I don't want to kill anybody. The fact is that the Jets have one of the worst passing games in the NFL and it sucked again today. The only reason that a shitty 1 TD performance from the offense was tolerable was because our Defense is very good. Do you have some sort of mental block that renders you incapable of understanding facts?
They stacked the box to shut down the run and force Sanchez to make the correct read. Which obviously he cannot do yet. He never goes all the way through his progression, thus he locks on the first read, pump fakes, then throws (into double coverage) rarely does he look off the coverage or dump it off to his check down. At this point he's a rookie's rookie.
:metal: CORRECT !!!!! Its not exactly a state secret how to defend the Jets: Shut down the run and force one of the worst passing attacks in the NFL to beat you w/a rookie QB. That is exactly what the falcons did today. The fact that some supposedly intelligent football fans can't grasp this obvious weakness is hilarious.
If we could transplant Chad Pennington's thought process/decision making into Mark Sanchez's physical body..... wow talk about the total package. I'll settle for Chad as the backup or QB coach 2010-11.

You realize Chad had a complete melt down in his last two playoff games and the Dolphins lost every game he started this year.
Pennington is a smart QB and a gutsy QB. He is just not a very talented QB. He would make a great QB coach for Sanchez after we dump shotty and cavanna.
Yup you got the formula take two of these throw in a bad snap a blown hold and a blown coverage on 4th and 4 and presto you get yourself a win. I'm sure that's exactly how Atlanta drew it up during the week.
Go re-watch the game coach lombardi and tell me WTF you see the falcons doing. If you stop the run, you stop the Jets. They proved it today.
