The theme for this week is Playoffs, Playoffs, PLAYOFFS WEEK 15 Thursday, 12/17 Indianapolis at Jacksonville - Jacksonville look to keep their postseason hopes alive. Indianapolis look to keep their undefeated season alive. Coach Caldwell has stated that the Colts will keep 'playing ball'. The last 4 games between these two have been decided by 7 points or less (3 of them have been decided by 3 points or less). Indianapolis leads the all-time series 13-4 but since they both joined the AFC South they have played in some of the best games. In 15 total games since 2002, 12 have been decided by one score or less. Saturday, 12/19 Dallas at New Orleans -For a team that has been collapsing in December in recent years Dallas didn't catch a break with the schedule makers this December and certainly don't catch one this week as they play the 13-0 New Orleans Saints. And if recent history is any indicator, Dallas could be in trouble. They have lost 5 in a row to the Saints dating back to 1998 and 7 out of 10 to the Saints since 1988. The Saints will clinch home field throughout the playoffs with a win and a Minnesota loss or tie. Sunday, 12/20 1:00 Arizona at Detroit – The Cardinals and Lions meet up after not playing each other last season for the first time since 2000. They played against each other 7 straight seasons from 2001-2007 (Cardinals won 4 of the 7) including the memorable 2003 opener for Anquan Boldin. The Cardinals will clinch the division with a win and a 49ers loss. Cleveland at Kansas City – Not much to see here. The two teams formerly coached by Marty Schottenheimer do not resemble the teams that were coached by Marty. The big news of the week for Cleveland was the potential arrival of former Packers and Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren. San Francisco at Philadelphia – The 49ers held on to their slim playoff chances by defeating the Cardinals on Monday night. The Eagles have taken over the NFC East Division lead by defeating the Giants on Sunday Night. The 49ers gashed the Cardinals defense by going back to the ground game. If they are to have a chance they will have to find a way to maintain a balanced offense against the Eagles. The Eagles will clinch a playoff berth with a win and either a Giants or Cowboys loss. Chicago at Baltimore – These two teams have historically had top defenses, and both have in their histories arguably the best defenses to ever play (1985 Chicago Bears; 2000 Baltimore Ravens). In their three previous matchups the loser of the game did not score more than 6 points. New England at Buffalo – If only Leodis McKelvin didn’t take the kickoff out of the endzone in the opener against the Patriots… Miami at Tennessee – Big game for the Dolphins playoff hopes. The Titans started the season 0-6 but won 6 out of their next 7 games. If you like running the football this is the game for you. Houston at St. Louis – The Rams will be wearing their blue and yellow uniforms to commemorate the 1999 Super Bowl winning Rams team 4:00 Oakland at Denver – Good ‘ol AFC West rivalry. Cincinnati at San Diego – The Bengals travel out to SD to face the Chargers with heavy hearts for the death of their teammate Chris Henry. These two teams faced off in the 2nd coldest game in NFL History (Coldest if you count windchill) in the 1981 AFC Championship Game otherwise known as the Freezer Bowl. The Bengals will clinch the AFC North Division title with a win or a Baltimore loss. The Chargers will clinch the West Division with a win or a Denver loss and can get a first round bye with a win and a Denver and Patriots loss. Green Bay at Pittsburgh – The team with the most Super Bowl victories vs. the team with the most Championship in NFL History. Since the Merger in 1970 when the Steelers left the NFL to go to the newly formed AFC they have defeated the Packers 6 times in the 9 games they have played. Green Bay will clich a playoff berth with a win and a Cowboys loss or a Giants loss Tampa Bay at Seattle – From 1976 (the year both the Bucs and Seahawks came into the NFL) to 2002 (when they first were in the same conference) the Seahawks and Buccaneers faced each other only 5 times. This will be the 5th time since 2002 that they will play each other. This will be the 4th straight season where they have played each other. Seattle owns the all time series lead at 7-2. Minnesota at Carolina – This could be an exciting game. The Vikings are 5-3 all time over the Panthers. The Vikings will clinch the North Division with a win or a Packers loss. They also clinch a first round bye with a win and an Eagles loss. Monday, 12/21 N.Y. Giants at Washington – The Giants desperately need a win on the road against their divisional Redskins. A win will likely put them back into the postseason picture. This game will not be a gimme for the Giants. The Redskins defense has proven to be one of the best in the league.
