I know it isn't done with the intent to dis the Almighty's Son, but it still makes me uncomfortable nonetheless so I just try and ignore it. It's kinda like when Sam Kinison used to do his stand up stuff and was bringing up God and Jesus. He had some pretty funny things to discuss on the subject of religion, but then some of his stuff went right overboard and you just knew he was going to hell, and you suddenly felt really uncomfortable.
Do you get pissed when people say happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas? That shit is way more "overboard" IMO than the Revis Christ thing. However, I am not religious so anything Jesus/Allah/God/Shiva..etc. related really has no effect on me. Throughout history religion has been the number one killer of people on the planet.
You do realise that nobody is actually comparing Revis to Jesus? It's a play on words. You get that, right?
Me too. People just have to take it in the light that it is intended; all in fun. Let's face it, water has to be frozen for Revis to be able to walk on it.
I'll go off topic with that: If its 1-4 days before Christmas, you can say Merry Christmas to anyone you see, because its Christmas time. Forget about their religion. that should be the same for any religion. If someone wishes me a Happy Hanukkah a couple of days before or during the holiday, I will thank them and wish them the same. It's no big deal. I'm not Jewish but I'll take the positive wishes anyway. I'm not going to say "I'm not Jewish" and be a douche. Happy Ramadan everyone.
I think Jesus, if he even ever existed, would be more pissed off that the pope is dancing around in Prada shoes on a marble floor inside his golden castle, than he would be about us using Revis Christ... I mean really... It's not like we posted a picture of Mohammed or something...
I was, he turns elite receivers into chumps. Thats way more impressive than water into wine if you ask me..
1000% on target. Most people following religion are total fucking hypocrites. Its like people who take the bible literally than you mention to them that the bible says its ok to stone your wife if she cheats on you..??
The whole world is filled with hypocrites, religion notwithstanding. People on the outside throwing stones at folks practicing religion love to hurl that hypocrite word around. Being a Christian doesn't suddenly make you perfect and capable of living a sin-free life. None of us are capable of that. It just means you try to do the right thing. Sometimes it's hard to do. We all have our vices, demons and whatnot. Heeeeey... aren't we not supposed to be discussing religion on here? I'm surprised we got 9 plus pages of this topic without being closed down.
There is a Revis Christ facebook group. Somebody came on here and took the nickname and expanded its reach... good job.
ALL RISE! Congregation, repeat after me this morning: Our Father, who art in Florham Park, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy playoffs come. Thy interceptions be done, In practice as it is in the Meadowlands. Give us this day our daily coverage. And forgive us our Rhodes-like trespasses, As we forgive those, like Bill Belichik, who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation like Tiger Woods, But deliver us from Tom Brady's evil. For thine is the kingdom, And the power, and the Hall Of Fame glory, Forever and ever, or until retirement. Amen.
we need to send one to Ocho Cinco. you know he will be asked about a celebration dance against one of the premier corners. and if he has this shirt he might refer to wearing it in the last home game at Giants Stadium?? instant stardom for TGG.com......
Really? I mean I'm not a Christian (Pastafarian) but I really can't see how anyone would honestly claim to be offended by that. Yeah, that's right. I said pastafarian. RAmen!
