I read on other sites Hayward is strongly considering staying for his senior year...

Question #1: How many chances are there he will actually reconsider and declare?

Question #2: Taking Suh (obvious Top 3 pick) and Dunlap (already discussed at length) are there any other 1st rd worthy 3-4 DEs?

I like Arthur Jones but his stock fell quite a bit... I know WW85 has a man-crush on Wootton and some guys talked about Oghabasee or whatever his name is and Marvin Austin. There is also a guy from the U of Miami...

This Draft looked loaded at the 3-4 DE position but as of now I'm not so sure anymore...

so...one guy decides to go back to school....and all of sudden the draft isn't LOADED anymore at the DE position?

If Heyward changes his mind...does the draft become magically "loaded" again at DE? Am I missing something?

Heyward was asked if he was going to declare for the NFL and he said he will probably stay. He has till Jan to decide....will probably explore the committee on NFL draft status. 50/50 chance..IMO.

IMO, we all were guilty of overhyping this class of DEs as Rd 1 prospects too early.

I think this draft is loaded at 3-4 DE, problem is that after Heyward and Dunlap (Mid Round 1).....there alot of question marks with players at the position.

Quite a few that are DTs that never played the position, but have the size to develop into 3-4 ends.

Injuries (Jones, Wootton) are a concern with some in this group.

I love Wootton's potential, his play has been very limited with injury. At times looks all world and other times is super quiet. I'll tell you the guys Wootton has heart and hustles all the time and is super intelligent. I thought he could fall into the bottom of rd 1...but it isn't going to happen.

Don't forget Alex Carrington, has had a quiet year, but is a talent that could be had in rd 4/5 area.

No no no... what I meant was that when we started talking about the draft a couple of months ago we overestimated the talent of the DE group.

I remember a lot of guys getting hard-ons about guys like Jones, Austin, Oghabasee, Wootton, Dunlap etc

Right now, with the college season almost finished, the only major collective excitement was on Hayward... with him going back to school and the other guys not living up to the hype maybe we were wrong about this specific position in this still overall loaded draft.

Exactly what I was talking about :)

What about Allen Bailey (the guy from Miami whose name I forgot)...?

I guess this means we still might be able to draft a good 3-4 DE in rd 2.

A little off topic but do any of the draft gurus want to share their opinions on Scooter Berry of WVU? Same age as Heyward and from what I hear he's staying in school for his senior season as well. 6'1", 294lbs. Short but strong. Had a good season as a sophomore but kind of fell off this season. He's pretty stout at the POA and has the experince of playing in a 3 DL set. Thoughts?

Berry may be better suited for a 4-3 DT, even though he plays some 3-4. Could be a NT in the NFL if he puts on more weight.

Was arrested for getting drunk and causing an incident outside a bar.

Local kid from Long Island, West Virginia over the years has recruited some kids from the NY/NJ area.

Yeah, none more infamous than Jason Gwaltney ---- Scooter Berry's stepbrother.
God I wish I had his physical abilities.
I wouldnt be sitting behind this desk from 9AM - 6PM.

I'm leaning towards Jared Odrick as a good 2nd round DE a little bit.

He played 3-4 almost exclusively under Rodriguez and held that role for most of his career.

...I was aware of WVU's 3-4. I think he may be a better 4-3 DT in the NFL.

Berry's size (lack of Height) and power IMO, suits him better, right now, as a 4-3 DT at the higher level. I believe if he adds weight to his frame he could be a NT, the kid is still young.

I don't see a future for Berry as a 3-4 DE, if that's what you're looking for as an answer.
