The way to nullify a really good offense is to keep them off the field. If the Jets can be successful with their running game and can control the line of scrimmage they can control the clock. Manning can't score if he is not on the field even if they do start all their regulars. Keeping them in a low scoring game will work in the favor of the Jets.
The MNF game vs the the Phins should be the blueprint for the JETS. Miami pounded the ball and controlled the clock, but gave up the Manning big play/quick scores. Pennington couldn't retaliate. The JETS have a better secondary. Revis blanketing Moss, and hopefully Rhodes plays up to his ego and slows down Dallas Clark. Pound the ball, and grind it out on D. Keep their offense on the bench.
I agree with the concept of that idea. But you're also underestimating the depth of the Colts receivers like Garcon and Collie. They've done well for them this season too with Gonzalez out.
A great defense always or at least 90% of the time beats a great offense(superbowls). While our defense is very good, if they play like we did this past week, even if Manning plays, if we get to him and hit him (like what the patriots used to do) WE CAN RATTLE him into making bad throws. That colts team isn't impossible to beat, not to mention they are extremly light up front, pound the rock at them and control the clock. But Manning will probably play 15 minutes and sit his ass down on the bench, so its all in hindsight.
I don't like looking ahead like that especially against a team that is still a good team. That said, We need to make Indy quit. Put Manning on his ass, even if we have to knock the shit outta Clark and Wayne, that'll make em think twice.
Yeah, the 10 teams the Colts have played this year have all said the same thing...'We match up well with them' Best Wishes
Really?? 90% huh?? Is that why the Colts are 127-46 since the '99 season and have never had a "great" defense? You better hope the Colts sit Peyton and Co. or your playoff hopes, much like Houston, Tennessee, Denver, and Miami (so far) will be methodically executed one play at a time.
"We need to make Indy quit" - The only way you'll get a win against the Colts is if they decide to let the Jets win. Likely because they're not afraid to see the Jets again in the playoffs...
I'm not intimidated by the Colts what so ever. Let em bring their big boys out. If Revis can hold of Wayne, who is Manning going to throw it to? it will be similar to the Patriots game in week 2 because all Brady could throw to was Moss (because Welker was injured) and add the fact that the Colts should have been beaten alot of times so their undefeated record isnt intimidating. Remember what we did to the Titans last year? well this time our defense will shut down the Colts.
It was a lot of fun going to the AFC Championship game.....for most of us anyway....but what's the point of going to the playoffs anyway
I don't know. were the Bengals and Chargers games really that exciting since we did not beat the Colts?
