Those 4 names were exactly who I was thinking of. Again, I'm not saying this is about who is more valuable in a trade or who you would rather have on your team going forward taking age into consideration. I just don't think Reyes has come anywhere close to performing what he potentially can do and I wouldn't automatically put him in the top 5 SS with the way he's performed the last few years.

I hope Bay accepts but Molina rejects. We still need money to get a good pitcher so that freaking Mike Pelfrey isn't the #2 guy.

Look, we all know how this turns out.

Molina accepts and Bay rejects. Boston ups the ante because they realize Bay can become their DH when Papi's deal ends after this season. Holliday re-signs with the Cardinals. Lackey to the Mariners. The Mets sign Jason Marquis and Jonny Gomes, who will probably not be tendered. Gomes goes back to his .218 ways and strikes out a ton. Fernando Martinez is promoted but gets hurt.

Molina hits .240 and provides adequate defense, but the Mets are punchless. Josh Thole hits .340 at AAA but the Mets can't promote him because despite the need for offensive firepower, they can't justify platooning a 6m a year catcher. They spin it somehow. They send Thole to the Royals for Jose Guillen. They blame the whole thing on "the core" and trade Jose Reyes to the Minnesota Twins for Orlando Cabrera, Nick Punto, and Phillip Humber. They sign David Ortiz to a 3 year deal with a vesting option for a player option for 4th. They say he's better defensively than given credit for. Fred Wilpon lives to 130.

I blame his son Jeff for the state of the team more than I do Fred.

Lol that's pretty funny and all except trading Reyes to the Twins is entirely realistic. You forgot Marquis going 6 - 14 with a 4.59 ERA.

I guess the good news is that Mets are not the worst organization in the NL. At least we have the Pirates and Diamondbacks to look down at. I'm still trying to figure out what the Dbacks are thinking.

BTW Holliday is going to Anaheim, the Cards aren't going to dish out the money and if the Angels have any shot at competing with the Skanks they need to make this move. After losing Figgins and likely Lackey they may be in trouble to begin with but they need to do something (although I'm sure they have some great players in the minors who will step in and become studs).

I can see Wilpon living to 130, I mean he doesn't have a soul so that helps him.

Bay rejected the Sawx offer... he may end up in Queens afterall. Now if only Bengie Molina woudl reject the Mets offer.

Who's their backup plan for Bay' looming rejection? My money's on Endy Chavez.

    I want Carl Crawford.

On another note, I'd like us to sign Ryan Garko. He can play 1B and OF. He'd be a good option off the bench.

I'm positive Raul Casanova is the backup at catcher so so why not bring Endy back :)

Unfortunately, we have a better chance of getting Lackey then we do getting Crawford. I just don't see Minaya going after him.

The Mets don't have the pieces to get Crawford from the Rays in the first place. If he does hit the open market there's no way that the Mets can outbid the Angels or Cubbies, not with the way their farm system looks right now.

I do think that the Mets will land Jason Bay though. The Sox are ultimately more interested in Holliday I think, and the Mets will probably have the best offer at the end of the day. How he holds up in Citi Field is another story.

I think Bay has power that'll translate to Citi, whereas Holliday is more of a David Wright-type gap hitter that'll get HRs too, but who knows how he'll fare playing here. Jason Bay K's a ton though...

If the Mets do end up with Bay the Sox will absolutely need to get Holliday otherwise they might be in some big trouble. I've also heard that the Mariners may make a move for Bay. He's from BC originally and Seattle is a very short drive to Vancouver so he'd be very close to home. I just can't see the Mariners making another move to bring in a big time FA. If they do they may overtake the Angels in the AL West.

I totally disagree, Bay's power was manufactured by Fenway. He's a 25 homerun hitter tops at Citi Field. The Mets would be way better off signing a gap hitter like Holliday, that plays to the strength of their field.

The Mets seriously lacked in the power department last year, which is probably the reasoning behind why they're going after Bay, as opposed to going after the more gap oriented Holliday. Holliday's definitely the better player though, IMO.

Bay has legitimate power, though. Last year was his first full year in Fenway, but before that, he was a legit power hitter at PNC Park, and before that, in the minors. I just don't like his K's and I don't like what he offers defensively. He has a pretty good arm though.

If we could acquire brandon phillips and arroyo and sign lackey, i am all for angel pagan to play left field and play for pitching, defense and speed.

    like CitiField is made for.
