I've been a Clemens supporter, but this is the last straw for me. Totally pathetic performance. Damn good thing we're playing Tampa Bay. Overthrowing, underthrowing, piss-poor timing, you name it. I'm finished with this guy. His value is worthless. We're going to need a legit backup and we're not getting squat for Clemens. This guy just isn't NFL caliber.
http://www.nfl.com/inactives This one lists Ainge as #3 too... so does anyone know the REAL REAL story??
I've been thinking the same thing. Give the kid a shot to see what he's got. He may surprise the shit out of everyone and set himself up for next year as a very good #2. Clemens is just not the answer. WE CAN NOT go into next season with this liability hanging around should Sanchez get injured. Huge mistake if he's even on the roster next year.
RIght now if Sanchez had both of his legs amputated I bet he could come in the game and compete as well as KC is doing...
O'Connell was inactive. Ainge was the #3 QB. We went into that game with two quarterbacks dressed and Brad Smith.
Clemens appeared at the podium (as televised on SNY) after the game, looking ever-more like the 1950's prize fighter, Carmen Basilio, after he'd been punched around the eyes about 700 too many times during his career. But he was upbeat and still optimistic about his performance... the same drivel we've heard after some of his other dreadful NFL performances. He spoke of "I did what was required of me," meaning, not turning over the ball and basically morphing into a ball-handling machine for handoffs to Jones and Greene in Sanchez' absence. Oh yes, he did have a better 4th quarter than he exhibited in the first three and he didn't throw any INTs, but that didn't make up for all the overthrows, underthrows, poorly timed passes and flicks-turned-shortrange, high-velocity bullets that could have been completed with more touch by any respectable 14-year old Pop Warner quarterback. He said that he wasn't pleased with his performance, that he felt there were plays that could have been made. We hear that from him every time though. Well, yeah. I guess you could say that. Some of those early passes sailed 4-5 feet above Cotchery's head in the end zone, while others were aimed at his ankles. One or two unexpected bullets at extremely close range to other receivers rounded out the totally nervous, Chad-like repertoire but without even any of the pressure that used to bring it on with Pennington. The guy was basically asked to be a ball-handling, hand-off machine and that's why he said he accomplished what was asked of him. But look guys, there's no room on this roster next year for that. Ryan was kind to Clemens when asked about his performance: "I obviously have confidence in Kellen's ability." Uh--- yeah, what else is he going to say right now? Seriously, this guy is a very good team player and probably a nice person, but he needs to get TF outta here as the backup. How do we know this knee thing with Sanchez won't run into a full-blown durability issue? There will be enough veteran QBs around next year to bring someone in and act as mentor and reliable backup. This guy is not going to cut it here.
great post 227.....great post. You basically encompassed the entire Clemens QB situation, his ineptitude today against the Bucs, and what the Jets should do with him in the future in a few paragraphs.
I don't know what game you guys were watching but KC was one of the main factors that enabled the Jets to win. His lack of poise and inaccuracy never fooled the coaching staff into calling stupid pass plays like they do with Sanchez when he has a rookie shit the bed game. (Buffalo Saints, NE etc. etc.) So thank you KC. The fact you suck giraffe balls, enabled the CS to stick to a decent game plan. They should give him a game fucking ball!
They should give him a "game kicking tee"....because he's only good for getting the offense into FG position. Besides...he'd fumble away the "game ball" somehow.
You should have kept this under your other account, Jetsfanwaiting! Bring out the banhammer, this asshole has two accounts!
This is exactly the point I have been trying to make to the people on this board, we have some very intelligent people on this board and I know this because I read their posts and some of the logic is irrefutable. For some reason though it's like they have a mental block when it comes to KC and MS, while I think MS will be a good NFL QB, the only difference in today's game is that they did not ask KC to win the game for them, which in turn reduced the possibilities for interceptions going back for TD's or helping the other team stay in the game. MS has less NFL experience than KC, however since he was named the starter he has been asked to do things like a 4 year veteran, which in turn has increased his potential for interceptions and his mistakes have helped the opposition to stay in the game and pull out wins that should not have happened. The last couple of weeks has shown this scenario to be the case, don't ask so much of the QB's we have, neither is good enough to carry the team to the playoffs, minimize their role in the offense to be managers of the offense and not turn the ball over. And please don't tell me MS has contributed to a much better passing game because the numbers don't lie, we are 30th in the league in passing yards per game. As you can see in the list below there are only a few QB's that are worse than MS as he is the 5th worse QB in the NFL, so while I understand the hate on KC, MS is not that much better. :jets: Mark Sanchez Kerry Collins Matthew Stafford Jake Delhomme JaMarcus Russell
