I think four things put this man in Ryan's shithouse... slowly but surely:

    1) His constant need to tweet and text his immature, meaningless bullshit, becoming an annoyance even as far back as last year. All through TC and into the season, the guy is demonstrating what a fucking juvenile mental midget he is.

    2) Constant trash-talking before games and inciting others to join in his adolescent nonsense. Even Kris Jenkins mentioned that he wished "some of the guys" (i.e. Rhodes) would tone it down and start showing it on the field more.

    3) Taking the adolescence to a whole new level before the Miami game, he goes as far as to make a purposeful visit to the Miami bench and talk more trash and almost gets his fucking ass kicked. Total embarassment on camera and in front of millions of people and totally unnecessary and unproductive. We go on to lose the fucking game, which makes it even more embarassing.

    4) He stopped hitting and tackling. There were instances which even the announcers noticed. It was also apparently noticed on the sidelines by some of our players and perhaps even by the coach that he just got into it with... probably still pissed at this coach because he suspects he might have mentioned something to Ryan over it. But whatever it was (afraid of injury perhaps?), Rhodes stopped being aggressive on the field where it really counts.

Now this. He's 95% out the door.

honestly, I don't even know if we would need to replace him with a draft player. I say let Smith start the rest of the season as he has actually been productive on the field and can keep his mouth shut.

one thing though...why the hell did rhodes get the game ball in the Carolina game? He had 2 picks against a sucky quarterback and NO TACKLES, HITS, FF, OR BROKEN UP PASSES...eric smith that game? 8 tackles (2 for losses), and 1 pass defended.

I feel like giving that game ball to rhodes was an 'oh sorry kerry, we forgot youre awesome' statement that just fed into his conceited attitude. he needs to stfu and play some football. when you look at top safeties in the league, or even more like someone who fits ryan's system aka Ed Reed, look at the production you get.

We need a more intelligent, free roaming, tough safety to fill rhodes spot. Trade him for whatever you can get, since hes just wasting cap room

It's a shame that it might come to this, but yeah, that's where this is heading. If you read between the lines of Rhodes' statement, he's pretty much borderline wanting out of here after the season anyway.

But Ryan is handling this really well, I think. This whole thing could easily become an incendiary situation with Rhodes, whose immaturity is threatening to surface now in full bloom. So the best way to handled this right now (and for what he would be worth in a trade somewhere in the future) is to not fan the flames.

He'll be worth more in trade to us if his completely immature attitude isn't exposed any more than it has already been exposed. Rhodes himself is already doing an excellent jovb of diminishing his value around the league, there's no need for Ryan to get into a public war of words through the media, ala the Pete Kendall situation, and make it worse. Ryan is doing an excellent job of keeping it light for now.

Rhodes will be worth more to us if other teams don't see what a complete, adolescent, conceited, "me only" asshole he's probably capable of exhibiting. So we're better off doing what we're doing, keeping it low key for now, then quietly offering him up for trade after game 16.

Someone around the league will step up and want him enough to give up a decent pick for him. But for now, I wouldn't address it any further than it's already been addressed. Three games left and then shop him.

If KR would start hitting people it would all be better. The better a player performs the more b/s he can get away with. KR is all yappy but he ain't backing that $ht up. So he looks like a beotch.

No. This is a Parcells move. And it's a great thing to see.

Some guys you stroke, some you piss off. It's a matter of finding the way to motivate the player. some get there with positive, some get there with negative.

Really #4 is all it takes. Ryan is a coach who wants physicality out of his players. He wants them hitting anything that moves. For whatever reason Rhodes has stopped hitting stuff the last couple of seasons and is probably one of the least-feared safeties in the league at this point because he almost never lays a lick on somebody coming across the middle, despite having the size to do it.

I just hope the Jets can get something for him in trade so he doesn't wind up in New England. He'd be 50/50 to wash out there but the 50 he didn't would really suck.

Bart Scott said in the begining of the year that Rex is looking for a certain type of defensive player and if you're not the guy...Rex will get you a plane ticket and replace you with someone else...meet Kerry Rhodes.

Mays has been pretty horrible this year, he plays with no fire. We'd essentially be replacing Rhodes with a taller, faster version of himself. I'll pass.

@KerryRhodes We all know how great you can be, so prove everyone wrong. Dont worry about what anyone says, just be the best you can be

@KerryRhodes I dont wanna keep rambling on to you, but Jet fans are die-hard fans and we are emotionally invested in this team. We need you

@KerryRhodes Everyone is rooting for you, youve been a fan favorite since your rookie year. Please man, dont act like you dont wanna be here

@KerryRhodes you need to finish your career as a Jet, they gave you that big contract, dont be unloyal

@KerryRhodes you can choose to ignore what im saying, or u can realize that this is a true Jet fan speaking and im speaking for all jet fans

@KerryRhodes Do you have any idea how lucky you are to be playing football in the best city in the world? do you really wanna be traded?

Kerry FINALLY responds with 3 tweets

@NYJets4Life24 ny is an ok place to play! very good place to live and do other things, but to play is ok. i love real fans like u trust me.

(so Kerry basically says the Jet fans suck and aren't loud...i tend to agree but what player actually says this?)

@NYJets4Life24 the only reason i would leave is to show the few that hate what i will do with another team.

(so last year it was Mangini's defense that restricted you from making plays...now it's Rex Ryan's D? The one where Ed Reed flourished? )

@NYJets4Life24 and let them know that having me isnt that bad lol!!!! i promise alot of teams would love to have me as their PROBLEM! lol

(i hate to break it to you kerry but you suck! you have done nothing in 3 years)

It's mind boggling how he actually thinks he's good.

    I can't believe this crap-

I was a huge Kerry fan, I think the fact that he and many others expected him to play well in a Rex coached defense has gotten to everyone.

Especially Kerry, he was probably drooling at the chance to become the next Reed, but seems that his football IQ isn't that great after all, and for that matter his regular IQ.

Interesting. He doesn't view it as having been an argument. It wouldn't be the first time the NY media fabricated something to make a story.

I'm not saying Rhodes is innocent, it's just interesting that he has a different side to the story than the media.

doesnt change the fact hes wishy washy about even saying out loud he wants to be a jet next year.

or the fact instead of kicking ass on the field hes hell bent on people knowing that hes "the starter"
