first of all where do you come into this convo....second of all i will be nice and kind in my post when the jets are choking it...
This game was never relevant to the playoff picture as it pertains to the Jets (unless you believe that the Jets had a realistic shot at getting in the playoffs at 9-7, which they don't). I hope PIT is still motivated when they play BAL - division rival and a chance to knock BAL out of playoff hunt - I'll go with yes.
We have no idea if 9-7 gets us in or not but how can it be a bad thing if a team that was tied w/ us going into the weekend loses?
Not a laughing matter; it has happened before. Bottom line: If we lose, we never were a playoff team.
1st: Where in my post did I say it was bad? 2nd: This thread was posted in the NYJ forum, implying that the title of the thread "Mangini: the gift that keeps on giving" is in relation to the Jets receiving a gift by PIT losing. All I stated is, if you realistically believe that if the Jets go 9-7, they will not be going to the playoffs (which I believe and the majority of people would), then PIT losing last night is irrelevant. If we win out and they had won out, we'd be ahead of them. You are correct, this is not a bad thing, unless you believe they will not be motivated when they play BAL (a game in which would currently help NYJ tremendously if PIT wins), which I stated in my post that I do not believe.
as OP, my bad for not realizing we had the tie breaker over pitt. 2-3 weeks ago the 'field of teams' with an eye on the last WC spot was crowded (6-8 teams?). As teams lose, they drop off the 'graphic'. pitt losing was nice just to get them out of the conversation. go miami! (god i hate typing that)
you are saying it's irrelvant, we don't know that. I haven't looke dup the tiebreakers(it's too early) but even if we both won out and held the tiebreaker over them what if a 3rd team was tieed w/ us? It's good when a team that is tied w/ us loses. We have no idea if 9-7 will be enough to get us in, it may or may not. A year ago it looked impossible for us to not make the playoffs but we found a way. There's alot of football to be played, I just want to win this week so we stay alive for another week.
