It's good that Ryan shows who is the boss and that he makes players understand he will always choose in the best interest of the team and not just protect his pupil (Sanchez) and let him do what he wants. On Clemens starting I think he'll do well enough to win the game against TB... basically because the D has to kick the shit out of Freeman and make him turn the ball away. I'm actually happy for KC... this is his final opportunity (thanks god it came against a shitty team like TB) to show wether he can play in this league or not. I'm sure he'll do something out of it... Last week he played like shit but he also hadn't practiced much with the 1st team.
based on what? because the 2009 version of Kellen Clemens...the one we saw last Thurs and in the preseason...doesn't look qualified to carry a tray of gatorade.
Does this mean Mark isn't playing at all? As long as the defense keeps us in this game, I think Clemens will do just enough for us to get the win.
Good call. Clemens isn't a terrible QB. However, it's been so long since he's seen significant PT you have to wonder if it'll take a while for his happy feet (see: him tripping over himself trying to escape a nonexistent rush in the Bills game) to settle down. However, he is decently mobile and he does have a good arm, and he's never been a bad decision maker, so let's just see what he can do.
Since that worked so well last Thursday... He needs to throw the ball, otherwise our offense will be useless and we'll have to rely entirely on D/ST to score points. The Bills are the single worst team in the league vs the rush and we couldn't move the ball when Clemens wasn't passing. This isn't the end of the world. It's Tampa Bay. As long as BS doesn't fuck up the playcalling Clemens will be good enough to win.
I'm not defending his shit play last week but its got to be 100% harder just getting thrown into a close game in the 3rd quarter versus knowing you are going to play all week and getting all the reps with the 1's.
I expect near 40 carries for Jones today Hopefully Clemens doesn't throw more than 15-20 passes. I still think its hilarious people thought Clemens should have been a starting QB- Pennington's arm was wiped out and he still beat out this bum twice in training camp. Awful
Yeah, that's the big question. At this point in the season and with everything on the line, you start Sanchez, unless, of course, he's more injured than they're letting on. I think it's got to be the latter. You don't take this kind of "precautionary" step right now... Ryan even said as much the other day... that every game counts and no game can be overlooked by holding out your starting QB as a precaution (I'm paraphrasing). So yeah, this is very big news (and I hope not very BAD news).
No excuses for him this time. He's got the good O-line, running game, our D is solid and we're playing Tampa Bay. Plus he'll have been working with the 1s all week. I don't want to hear after this that he never got a shot, etc. It could be similar to the game at Miami two years ago, nice weather, he had the superior team and led us to a win.
This sucks. I have no faith in Clemens even against a team playing as poorly as TB. He'll probably get knocked out of the game again just like in the Pats game.
I didn't hear it either, on my iPhone. Is Mark okay, is the injury more severe then originally thought?? This blows, I agree with the post that if my a slight chance Kellen does play well there will be a hundred threads on trade mark, Kellen will win us a SB. This just ruined my day even more, fuck!!!
