Pretty much sums why I was against drafting him. His whole game is based on overpowering blockers and that alone does not translate well to the NFL at his position. Similar to Reggie Bush, where his speed alone is not a big enough advantage at this level. I've actually gotten over the fact that Gholston has failed so horribly because I was kind of expecting it.

I am not going to start another VG thread, but (and if this was asked earlier, I apologize) does anyone else but me think that Vernon Gholston is 100% right now? I kinda feel like Ryan just said, "I don't want to see you, I don't want to be asked questions about you. You've got a hamstring until further notice; get the fuck out of my office."

I mean, a hamstring? Isn't that a relatively quick heal? He's missed what, five games now?

We're not on the team. We're not in the locker room. We're not participants at practice. We are consumers, paying for a product(the football team). Criticizing the selection of Vernon Gholston and his inability to succeed at a high level is like complaining to Cuisinart that the coffee maker you bought comes with a defective, leaky coffee pot. What makes it worse is that the coffee pot doesn't even seem like it wants to work. So now you have a defective product that is basically choosing to be as bad as it is.

I am a lifelong fan and a 40 year+ member of Jets Nation. I support our players. If you choose to analogize players to consumer goods that is simply your messed of viewpoint. You did not purchase Vernon Gholston. You do not own Vernon Gholston. I find the analogy to be offensive on several levels. I bleed green and white. I'm a diehard fan and I support my team. I am not a consumer buying a coffee pot.

This team exists solely for the purpose of putting money, yours, mine, and that of everyone else on this board, into Woody Johnson's pocket and, subsequently, into the pockets of the front office, coaching staff, players, training staff...etc. Refusing to accept this idea is an exercise in gullibility, ignorance, and naivete.

dude its been a year and a little over a half and your calling him a bust already? I know hes played alot already, give him another year to write bust on him. I think Rex needs to do a little more work with him. Also the people saying oh Mangini screwed up with this pick are absolute idiots! Look at mangini's past picks alot of starters on this team. Mangini saw this as the best opportunity for this team. Alot of players dont work out

    1. It has been over a year and a half with little production, little playing time earned, and a lost spot to a RFA.

    2. Mangini screwing up the pick is not the problem. Mangini screwing up the pick by over-riding the scouts who do their job year-round and know what they are talking about, and choosing Gholston over a player who, until his recent injury, was producing, playing well, and looked like he actually has potential to succeed in this league is the problem.

You can look at it that way and we can agree to disagree. I am not a fan of the Jets in order to enhance Woody's balance sheet. If that is why you support a team I kinda feel really sorry for you.

But you analogized a player to a consumer product. However you didn't buy nor do you own any player on this team. Neither for that matter does Woody. We effectively repealed slavery in this country about 140 yrs ago. You may choose to purchase a ticket or a jersey and obviously that money that you choose to invest in those items is part of a revenue stream. But that doesn't mean you own people, it means you arer paying to be entertained and/or wear a jersey.

Way to completely misunderstand a metaphor. Bravo.

Here, let me explain it to you:

Coffee Pot = NY Jets football
    Cuisinart = NY Jets management
Leak = Mangini/Tannebaum's poor excuse for judgment to draft the useless buck with no effort or brain.

A hamstring isn't a quick heal, but I feel like this is kind of what is going on, obviously not to that extent though. They are probably playing it up a little more then it really is. Remember though we are 3-1 with the Ghost starting.

At this point, its best if the jets and gholston part ways for both ways, the Jets will save money, and gholston gets a fresh start most likely with a 4-3 team where he can go back to just rushing the qb and not have to worry about all the intricacies of the 3-4. I just have a feeling that Mangini just took the football out of him. When you watch him in college he is a totally different player, not just from a production stand point, but he has more burst and looks like he wants to hit the QB.

If there is a silver lining I feel better that Mangini made the pick and the scouting department was against it. Mangini is gone, and now I know that are scouting department is alright and should set us up for more good drafts on top of the ones they have already done.

OK, how about when I file a complaint to Colt when my .45 jams while trying to shoot an intruder? Is that one a little more entertaining for you?(Before some idiot accuses me of bullshitting, this did not really happen to me, just a less lame analogy...which AbdulSalam will once again fail to comprehend properly)

OK, now just apply this logic to your horrible, horrible ideas and maybe you could stop posting the utter bullshit that has shown up on this board under your SN. Also, you misspelled analogies.

Or maybe you could take your head out of your ass and just start trying to understand what a forward pass is and what a blocking assignment is.
