Miami has a brutal schedule and will almost definately lose one of their final three games after this coming weekend. We really need to get the Jags another two losses (while we only need the dolphins to lose one more if we take care of our business), so we should probably root for the dolphins this weekend.

miami needs to beat the jags because they have a one game lead and the tiebreaker over us. if the jets didn't have so many terrible losses who knows where they would be right now.

The first thing I said as I left my seat after the Jags game was that no team who loses 3 consecutive home games to the Bills Dolphins and Jags will make the playoffs. Yet here we are discussing the possibility. I say lets just worry about the Jets playing some good football, and hopefully if they do run the table, we can either get a wild card or the division.

At this point I would like to see Sanchez and coach Ryan get better at what they do, and let the chips fall where they may.

I love the person who said we want the game to end in a tie. It's genius! It's essentially the same as both teams losing as long as we win vs Tampa.

Holy Schmoly. For about the one hundreth time - We all agree that the Jets have to beat the bucs and win out. So nobody needs to state that obvious point yet again in this thread. Also nobody has to tell anybody to "just worry about the jets playing some good football." If thats what you want to limit your discussion to - great - fee free not to post that inane thought on a thread dedicated to discussing the upcoming jax/mia game. We will all have to somehow muddle through w/o your valuable insights that we should just worry about the jets playing some good football:wink:

Frankly if the Jets play lousy but get lucky and win, that is far more important than the "jets playing some good football".

Considering that jax needs to lose twice, I think you have to hope they get beat this week so that next week they only need 1 loss.

Miami and Jacksonville both have really tough schedules and I don't think either team will make it. The best scenario would be for Jacksonville to lose to Miami and Indianapolis, and beat New England. That would have the Jets a chance at the division and the wild card. Miami has enough tough games on its schedule that they can win a game and you can still be pretty confident they won't win out.

I'm rooting for the Jets and will worry about this other crap when needed.

All these scenarios are BS unless we take care of business first. I feel positive that we will get to 10-6 and that will be enough to get us in.

I'm keeping it simple and it's keeping a smile on my Jet green painted face.

Just imagine what would have happened if McKelvin didn't fumble the kickoff in week 1.

Just imagine if we won the games we should've won.

We could EASILY be 8-4 right now and leading the division.

Take the Buffalo game and pretty much any other game besides NO, and NE#2.

i knew something was wrong with this .. yeah we need JAX to lose because if they dont lose to miami.. they need to lose out.. including a loss to CLE.. well.. guess i gotta.. uhhhh.. root for miami again this week.. and then hope they lose to pitt and tenn.. or maybe andre johnson has a field day against there defensive backs and HOU tops them.. either way.. we need MIA to win this week. becuz then we put our playoff hopes in the hands of CLE..

yeah, that's reasonable. nothing like asinine principles.

I hate to break this to you, but unless the Jets go undefeated, their ability to make the playoffs is always dependent on other teams losing. if the Jets go 14-2, they still need every other team in their division to lose at least 3 games but they can only hand them 2 losses, thus they need those teams to lose 1 more game. if you don't want any other team to beat them, then you inherently don't care if the Jets ever win the division once they have 1 or more losses. the same principle projects to all AFC opponents.

the Jets never completely control their own destiny once they have 1 loss, so to depend on that is not just stupid but defies the reality of the game. are you actually saying once the Jets lose a single game, you don't care what happens because they didn't take care of business? that's the only logical repercussion of the ridiculous position you just laid out. if you don't care if other teams lose you inherently don't care if the Jets make the playoffs...ever...once they have a single loss, and thus don;t really care if they win the Super Bowl. but hey, you stand by your principle that you'll never root for another team to win (and thus are not emotionally interested in the outcome as it affects the Jets ability to win a Super Bowl which can only happen if they make the playoffs first), regardless if it it helps the Jets.

no it isn't, because Jax would still be ahead of the Jets even with a tie if they win out afterwards, it only hurts the Dolphins.

We need Jags to beat Miami. Miami scares me, if they beat the Jags what stopping them from going 3-0.. Titans? They are a major unknown with Vince Young. Texans? I think they think the season is over already. Steelers? They just lost to Oakland.

I can seriously see Miami going on a tear, they aren't a team you want hanging around. Jags will lose to NE and Indy.

Yeah... but the problem is.. with a win against miami, 2 losses to NE and IND, and then a win against CLE.. that puts then at 9-7.. WHICH MEANS.. even if we beat TB, ATL, and CIN.. we still dont make WC because JAX has the tie breaker since we like to blow games late...

WE NEED MIA TO WIN THIS GAME.. it doesn't matter who you want to win or who you are more afraid of.. if jax wins this game.. barring an amazing performance from CLE.. we are gunna have to win the rest of our games.. which means beating IND for any hope at playoffs...

yes, we need Jax to lose this one and MIA to lose later. the ncie thing is the Pats play Jax, so it is conceivable that that game could spring us into the wildcard, or into the division depending what the result is.

i honestly believe if the Jets win out, they'll make the playoffs, because wildcard teams are playing each other. 10-6 should be enough to get in, heck, even Phil Simms says he thinks 9-7 might be good enough!

Yeah, I guess if the Jets are going down, might as well have the Dolphins go down with them.

I completely disagree... The Jets are EXTREMELY unlikely to make the playoffs if we lose another game. Right now we have to look from the angle of going 4-0. Even if the Jags loses to Miami and then to Indy and Pats, you are forgetting about the Ravens. As of now, its seems tough to make the playoffs even if we run the table. HOW IN THE WORLD can you be thinking about making the playoffs with a 9-7 record...
