Gammons has been an ESPN reporter and analyst for 20 years and started his reporting career for the Boston Globe in 1969. "My decision to leave ESPN and move on at this point in my life has been conflicted," Gammons said in a statement on the network's Web site. "I owe a great deal of my professional life to ESPN, having spent more than half of my 40 years in journalism working for the network, and the choice to move on was made with nothing but the strongest feelings for the people with whom I worked. ESPN gave me a great deal more than I gave it, and will always be a huge part of who I am. After being elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005, Gammons suffered a brain aneurysm the following year, but returned to the air. An accomplished musician, Gammons released a CD in 2006 entitled "Never Slow Down, Never Grow Old."
Shucks, where will the Boston bias come from now! Actually, I'm sure ESPN as a whole will be on top of it.
This whole "Boston Bias" crap is really old and isn't really that surprising, given where they are located.
Sorry he is leaving, he was not that bad, even though I think Tim Kurkjian is the best MLB analyst they have.

He seems like an all-around good guy but he just isn't a great writer and his reputation hasn't matched how good of a reporter he is for years. It seems like he routinely comes up with a million scenarios that never happens while reporting it as news.
One of the few guys I could still stand at ESPN(Boston Bias notwithstanding). I wonder which useless dipshit currently employed is going to profit from this, career-wise.
Gammons sucked glad he will be going, I like Kurkjian is good, most of the espn baseball guys who really know there stuff about the game arent usually on TV they blog for ESPN Rob Neyer, Kieth Law, etc
I think that is perception, I think he's pretty much always been fair w/ the Yanks and Sox. The Sox did win 2 titles in 4 years, they did deserve accolades and the Yanks were underachieving. It's like people feeling Buck and McCarver hate thier teams, it's perception.
Nah, dude. Gammons was (and is) a self-proclaimed Boston homer. He wrote for the Globe for almost 20 years, and is a Boston fan. Many/most of his reports are filtered through that. Some reporters are good at putting personal bias aside. Gammons was mediocre at it at best, and became worse in recent years.
