And he slashed them up accordingly.

it would be one thing if he just got 90 yards and that was it, but he put up 3 digit numbers and hit 200 yards on the Bills and that's what a pro bowler should do.

Chris Johnson is the best back in the AFC, c'mon now, it's not even close. Is anyone really going to argue Jones has been better?

Benson got the Browns and Bears. And would have played Oakland but he was hurt. Health and durability should be a factor.

How a bout a common opponet:

vs Houston Benson went 16 for 44 yards 1 TD

Jones went 20 for 107 yards 2 TDs

The fans vote barely matters. I know they say it's something like 1/3 of the final vote, but if you look at years past very rarely do the fan's list and the actual pro bowl list look the same at some of these "questionable" positions

Not really though. If you take away the 2 Jets games... they are still giving up 150 yards per game on the ground... which would be good for 29th. 4th worst in the league...

They are a horrible rush defense no matter how you wanna break it down...

He did not play the Browns twice. He only played them once...

And like you said... he didnt play the Raiders either...

Agreed on that. He did what a good back should do to a bad defense. I'm not hating on TJones. Hes a good back...

True, but he only managed 74 yards against the Browns who are currently ranked 29th.

His biggest game against Chicago is 24th against the run.

    So yeah, that's about it.

It's not just the fans, the players vote on name recognition as well. For years the fans weren't allowed to vote and the same guys kept going over and over again even when they didn't deserve it. Once you crack through you have to be really bad not to make it again.

    Nice stats...

But there are some variables that go into that as well. Houston's rushing defense started off slow, getting gashed early on in the first few weeks of the season. Then, they tightened up after that allowing only 1 RB to get more than 69 yards rushing against them the past 8 weeks.

The only back that did get more than 69 yards the past 2 months? The leagues leading rusher, Chris Johnson...

Ridiculous. You play the team on the field. You can not cherry pick certain games because the other team was "starting off slow".

Well, I was responding to someone who compared them playing the "same team"... yet even though the logos on their helmets didnt change... the defense did in terms of how they were playing.

The Texans were playing a lot differently on defense earlier in the year than they have been lately. It shows in the numbers...

But, But MJD played StLouis, KC and Buffalo. And he played a "slow starting" Houston.

BTW, he went 25 carries for 66 yards vs Buffalo:up:

    I would rank the backs
    1. Chris Johnson
    2. MJD
    3. Thomas Jones
    4. Cedric Benson

Although 3 and 4 are basically interchangable, there's no denying 1 and 2. MJD is beastly.

Jake Long is a very good player.

However he is not a fantastic pass blocker. He has given up more than his fair share this year. He is not close to being the top pass blocking LT in the AFC. Yes, I have watched some Fins game this year.

That sack stat is such bullshit. I didn't like it the year it ridiculously gave Brick 13 sacks allowed after he was playing next to the black hole Adrian Clark. I do not like it when it says a player gave up 3 sacks even though in the games I watched I have seen him give up considerably more. Remember it is a subjective stat (up to the whims of the statistician that tracks them) not easily computed.

Now I am not saying he sucks or anything, far from it, he is really very good. Probably the opposite of Brick, being a better run blocker than pass. However, in the games I have seen he has had his pass blocking troubles.

    Touche again...

But MJD has also played 3 top 10 rushing defenses as well to balance those.

Also, dont discount MJD's receiving either... with already 41 receptions for 275 yards. Should finish the season with around 60rec for 400 yards...
