it annoys me when non jet fans think champ baily is still the best cb in the leage...revis is unbelievable..he should def have locked up all-pro 1st team and should be considered for defensive player of the year but with the vikings playing so well jared allen might get it.

Revis is one of the top run CBs as well according to that spreadsheet. I've never seen him miss a tackle.

His sack celebration is awesome and as far as DT's go, Pat Williams is not the DT he was a couple years ago, but I agree that Kevin Williams might be the best DT in the league.

I'm not really sure how much they double team him, (vikings games are usually on the same time as jets games), but he's a lot more dominant than his sack numbers suggest. If you watch the miced up video on nfl.com of Jared Allen when he played the Seahawks, he was totally dominant that game and never got a sack. Also watch the bears game last week, he had 2 sacks (and an Int), but was hitting Jay Cutler constantly.

I think Revis has a solid shot at DPOY. It has been given to cornerbacks in the past when they were clearly the most dominant defensive player in a given year. Deion Sanders and Rod Woodson won back-to-back years in the 90's. The thing that would win it for Revis would be the quality of the receivers he has shut down. He still has games against Terrell Owens, Roddy White, Reggie Wayne and Ochocinco to make his case. If he shuts those guys down and the Jets win a couple of those games I think he wins the award.

he deserves it, but I highly doubt they give it to a player on a mediocre Jets team...now if we somehow make the playoff chase at least INTERESTING up to the end of the season, then mayhap he has a chance

3 of the last 8 DPOY were awarded to players on non-playoff teams. That's more than a third. I think he has a real shot if he finishes as strongly as he has played so far. 2 out of 8 were awarded to players on teams that finished under .500.

If you watch Sharper you'll see he just sits back there and plays center field. He does not deserve DPOY. He's merely capitalizing on the pressure the rest of the D provides, not the mention the O forces the other team to start passing early.

ok, so Jason Taylor in '06 is a good example. Ed Reed in '04, Ravens were 1 game out at the end, and Strahan in '01 was on a Giants team that was fighting for the 6th playoff spot but petered out the last two weeks of the season.

I like that the most recent example (JT) was on a 6-10 Dolphins team, which means there is more precedence for Revis to get it, but he chances improve substantially the more we make a push towards the playoffs these next few weeks

He needs more flashy plays like he had against Carolina. More picks, more forced fumbles, more touchdowns. If he gets those big plays that get shown on ESPN, he'll get more votes.

DPOY is Jared Allen's award to lose.

The guy's a great pass rusher and he's also very good against the run. Being on a top tier team will help him out a lot too.

That site is fucking retarded if Sione Pouha is listed as the league's 7th best defensive tackle. Also, Mike DeVito is rated 6th.

It has their snap count listed, but it doesn't really take that into account.
